    About the Community
    Velkommen to Little Norway. Petersburg is located in Southeast Alaska (the “panhandle of Alaska”), in the Tongass National Forest. Picturesque mountains, forest and wildlife are a natural part of life along with abundant sea life. An excellent school system, outdoor activities and community spirit enhance the small town amenities. Petersburg Alaska was founded in the late 1800s by Norwegian heritage fishermen and homes one of the most prosperous fishing fleets. The city was incorporated in 1910 and has a council/manager (borough) form of government. The population estimate for 2016 is 3179 in the Borough and it swells by an additional +/- 500 in the summer, mostly fishermen, cannery workers, tourists and forest service employees.     About the Facility
    Petersburg Medical Center is a 27 bed hospital – 12 acute care and 15 nursing home beds. The Medical Center boasts an outpatient clinic, laboratory & radiology department, emergency department, home health and rehab. The hospital has over 100 employees and there are four (4) family practice physicians. The PMC website is www.pmcak.org.

    About the Opportunity
    The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Medical Center. This position is accountable for the planning, organizing and directing the hospital to ensure the quality of patient care is provided and that the financial integrity of PMC is maintained. The CEO ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as well as all policies and procedures set forth by the Governing Board and Medical Staff.

    The CEO is responsible for creating an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding goals, conveying the mission and vision to the staff, holding staff accountable for their performance, motivating staff to improve and being responsible for the continuous enhancement of the organization.     Education and Experience
    o Proven leader, strong work ethic, strategist/visionary, strong interpersonal skills and team builder.
    o Open communicator, with an in-depth knowledge of hospital administration and five (5) years in senior management.
    o Refined managerial skills, the ability to provide guidance and supervision of staff and employees.
    o Current Alaska licensure for Nursing Home Administrator preferred, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire.
    o BS/BA in related field and relevant experience required. Masters preferred.
