Summary: PMC is looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist to join our rehabilitation team and provide therapy and rehabilitations services to patients. PMC is searching for a highly motivated SLP with the ability to work independently, have excellent communication and time management skills – who wants to make a difference on a daily basis for the population we serve. The SLP will service a wide range of patient conditions and age groups in a variety of hospital settings. We are searching for someone who is always ready to learn new techniques to further patient care. The SLP is a professional who encourages and inspires their patients to work toward greater independence and recovery and works as an integral member of the patient care team. Responsibilities Include: o Ability to perform an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments as per policy. o Able to assess patients with an optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. o Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. o Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team. o Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed. o Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: o State of Alaska Speech Language Pathologist licensure or eligibility required. Graduate of an approved SLP program o Previous clinical/rehab experience preferred but not required. A clinical fellow may be considered o Flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing training preferred but not required (training and coursework will be provided to use equipment if not already trained) o This position demands rigorous attention to detail and a high level of professionalism. We are looking for a friendly, customer service oriented individual who can work well with the general public, coworkers, and professional staff o Is a full time, 40 hours per week position and may include weekends with flexible staffing/scheduling a possibility with the growth of the rehabilitation department.
