    Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, or "CRMC", is a 25-bed, non-profit, critical access hospital serving Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma since 1949.     GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    The Retail Pharmacist compounds and/or dispenses prescription medications, provides pharmaceutical information to healthcare professionals, monitors drug therapies to avoid interactions with other medications, and provides pharmaceutical expertise on the safe use of medications. They determine which forms of medication best suit each patient in a timely and efficient manner, requiring significant input from doctors, nurses, and other professionals.

    JOB DUTIES

    • Serve patients by preparing medications, giving pharmacological information to the multidisciplinary health care team, and monitoring patient drug therapies
    • Review and interpret physician orders and detect therapeutic incompatibilities
    • Dispense medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals
    • Control medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions
    • Complete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing, directing, and supervising technicians’ workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, verifying order entries, charges, and inspections, and maintaining appropriate inventory to ensure availability of necessary medications
    • Manage processes for the 340B retail pharmacy program to ensure compliance and optimal pricing/reimbursement/inventory replenishment
    • Provide pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counseling patients on drug therapies
    • Develop staff retail pharmacy knowledge by participating in clinical programs and training pharmacy technicians and support personnel, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals
    • Comply with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
    • Maintain records for controlled substances and remove outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory
    • Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols
    • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
    • Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
    • Assist in the development, implementation, enforcement, and maintenance of appropriate policies and procedures
    • Report operational and patient care issues or concerns to the Director of Pharmacy

    The Retail Pharmacist assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS:

      • Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public
      • Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
      • Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others
      • Computer skills, including MSOffice, Outlook, and Meditech, preferred
      • Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations as well as exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      • Graduate of an institution accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
      • Current Pharmacist License from the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy
      • Current BLS Certification, required
      • 1-2 years’ experience in retail pharmacy, preferred
