    ** Education and Experience**

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

    2. Completion of technician training program preferred.

    3. Certified pharmacy technician preferred.

    4. Registered as Registered Pharmacy Technician with State of Maryland within six months of date of hire or transfer into the position.

    5. One – two years working experience as a pharmacy technician in an institutional setting preferred.

    6. Must have mixing chemo experience of at least 6 months and be certified.

    7. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    8. Prioritizes work responsibilities and manages multiple demands.

    9. Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.

    10. Seeks validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision making as necessary and assertively seeks guidance in areas of question.

    11. Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making. Accepts change as a part of the problem-solving process.

    12. Participates actively in staff development activities for unit and Department of Pharmacy personnel.

    13. Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development needs.

    14. Participates in development and attainment of unit and Department of Pharmacy goals.

    15. Participates in peer review and unit and Department of Pharmacy quality improvement activities.

    16. Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills a s method of sound decision making. Accepts change as a part of the problem-solving process.

    17. Attends hospital and departmental meetings as required or assigned.

    18. Represents the department and the function on hospital committees, professional associations, and community organizations.

    19. Participates in problem solving/decision making and performance improvement.

    20. Utilizes effective methods of communication.

    21. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, workshops, in-service meetings, etc.

    22. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program, safety environmental and infection control.

    23. Assumes the role of Pharmacy Inventory Control technician/Pharmacy Pyxis technician, as needed.
