As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll be responsible for answering incoming calls and completing outbound calls to / from patients, physicians and pharmacists while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximized productivity. You'll need to work within multiple computer systems simultaneously as you respond to questions or provide specific medication details/clinical information. It's a fast paced, high volume environment where our members are counting on us to deliver these important, sometimes life-saving medications in an accurate and efficient manner. Primary Responsibilities: Process member prescriptions or prior authorizations through various computer systems ensuring the accuracy of all data and updating as necessary Navigate across multiple computer systems to respond to questions or to provide specific medication details / clinical information Receive incoming calls from members or providers; conduct outgoing calls as needed to provide follow-up or consultation such as prior authorization requirements, appeals, etc. Apply benefit plan criteria in making decisions (approvals / denials) or recommendations; clarify and explain pharmaceutical benefits and procedures Maintain dispensing units ensuring they are filled with correct products, returns products that are no longer valid due to recalls, supply issues, etc. Educate members / guardians, providers, pharmacies) on proper medication use, drug interactions, side effect management, etc. Partner with others to gather additional information and / or to interpret clinical guidelines; act as a resource for others Requirements: High School Diploma / GED or higher State of Texas Pharmacy Technician License (Registration) Demonstrated ability in using computer and Windows PC applications, which includes strong keyboard and navigation skills and learning new computer programs Ability to work regularly scheduled shifts within our hours of operation (7:00am - 7:00 pm Monday through Friday) including the training period, where lunches and breaks are scheduled, with the flexibility to adjust daily schedule, and work over-time and / or weekends, as needed Preferred Qualifications: Pharmacy / prescription data entry experience National Pharm Tech Certification Bilingual (Spanish and English) OptumRx is an empowering place for people with the flexibility to help create change.
