    Residential Treatment Specialist (Full-time, Nights) Department: Treatment Services Location: Spokane, WA Job ID: 950143 Pioneer Human Services (PHS) is a social enterprise that provides individuals with criminal histories the opportunity to lead healthy, productive lives. Pioneer Center East (PCE) is a 53-bed facility in Eastern Washington that provides semi-secure, sub-acute detox service and intensive inpatient treatment for people who battle chronic substance use disorder. Located in Spokane County, PCE provides variable-intensity residential treatment for high-need, treatment-resistant individuals. POSITION SUMMARY The Residential Treatment Specialist (RTS) is responsible for providing physical care and in collaboration with other staff, shall be responsible for implementing programming designed to assist each resident with their individual treatment plan. POSITION DUTIES & TASKS Client Services (45%) * Interprets and explains program and/or unit policy and procedure to each resident as needed. * Perform and document daily shift activities, as well as observations of residents behavior as required by program policies, contract stipulations and professional standards. * Supervise and monitor resident movement, activity and rule compliance. * Assess and respond appropriately to resident behaviors, attitudes and dispositions. * Staff assigned to evening and weekend shifts are responsible for implementing and assisting in the planning of a wide variety of structured activities, designed to promote social and independent living skills necessary to maintain a viable recovery and rehabilitation program * Assist residents in meeting health and hygiene needs * Aid in the educational process-academic, social, and spiritual. * Assist Food Services staff as directed. * Assist Health Services staff as needed. Program & Facility Safety (30%) * Assess, evaluate and, if necessary, report internal and external facility conditions for safety, sanitation and security concerns. * Provide a healthy and safe environment for staff and residents, which includes the maintenance of the appearance of the living space for residents * Request maintenance and household supplies as needed Program Operations (10%) * Complete intake and discharge procedures for all residents upon arrival and at exit. * Conduct program orientations for newly arrived residents. * Prepare informational, infraction and incident reports as necessary. * Oversee resident family and sponsor visitations. * Attends and participates in department staff meetings, program meetings, required trainings as directed. * Meets with other program staff, consultants, volunteers, and attends other meetings as directed. Communications & Collaboration (10%)

    • Engage in clear, consistent, and professional communication with all residents, program staff, service providers and community members. * Promote and model teamwork and collaboration with co-workers. * Attend scheduled staff meetings, program meetings as appropriate or upon request and complete required trainings. * Interacts and corresponds with in-house treatment team and staff, community partners, as needed, in support of treatment. Perform Other Duties as Required (5%) WORKING CONDITIONS Work Setting, including hazards: * Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in a residential or inpatient setting, depending upon assignment. * Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in these various environments. * Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion. * Must be able to sit, stand and walk for up to 8 hours. * Must be able to visually inspect incoming clients for contraband. Schedule (i.e. hours and days): * The expected schedule is Sunday - Thursday, 11:00pm - 7:00am. * We are a 24/7 facility and staffing schedules involve varied hours and weekend shifts and holidays, depending on business need. Travel Requirements: * Local travel RTS may occasionally need to transport client to appointments * Therefore, incumbent must be able to independently travel to alternate work locations as needed. Driving record acceptable to company's insurance carrier if using a company vehicle. Tools & Equipment: * Computer, janitorial supplies i.e. broom, mop, mob bucket; dishwasher, stove and oven. Customer Interactions: * May have direct contact with intoxicated and behaviorally acting out residents. QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent. * Must have a current, or be able to obtain a, Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire. * Must be sensitive, receptive and mature enough to be neither upset by the residents, nor cause the residents further adjustment difficulties. * Must maintain an attitude toward interactions with residents that is objective and free from personal bias: one that allows for perspective and flexibility in observing groups and individual behavior patterns. * Must be able to speak, read and write in English. Preferred/Desirable Qualifications * One year acceptable experience in the human services field. * Course work, experience, or training in human development, chemical dependency, group dynamics, residential treatment or related disciplines desirable.
