The Tacoma Residential Reentry Center (TRRC) houses both males and females who are in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, or under the supervision of the US Probation or the Pre-trial Services. The program is a 75-bed maximum facility. TRRC helps residents transition back into the community through an array of programs offered onsite to include substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling, job- readiness workshops, family rebuilding classes, resource services, and an employment outreach coordinator to help residents secure jobs. While in our program, residents are expected to find employment or enroll in school, establish restitution payments, develop a budget, create a savings plan and find housing before being released. POSITION SUMMARY The primary responsibilities of a Resident Monitor I are to guide, assist and support residents in their transition back into community life by carrying out the day-to-day operations of a Pioneer residential reentry program. The Resident Monitor I is responsible for ensuring program and facility safety, monitoring resident movement, verifying resident employment, and supporting structured cognitive and behavioral-based programming designed to promote risk reduction and successful community reintegration. As a member of the PHS team, the Resident Monitor I collaborates with other staff and community partners to promote a pro-social and supportive program climate that encourages the development of independent living skills. A resident monitor is encouraged to make recommendations to operational policies and procedures consistent with program goals and the agency mission. POSITION DUTIES & TASKS Client Monitoring (25%) * Perform and document daily shift activities as required by program policies, contract stipulations and professional standards. * Supervise and monitor resident movement, activity and rule compliance. * Assess and respond appropriately to resident behaviors, attitudes and dispositions. * Conduct contraband control and confiscation procedures (e.g.,pat and property searches). Program & Facility Safety (10%) * Conduct physical grounds and facility safety checks. * Operate and monitor video and GPS surveillance technologies. * Assess, evaluate and, if necessary, report internal and external facility conditions for safety, sanitation and security concerns. * Ensure compliance with all health/hygiene, safety and maintenance requirements. * Oversee resident AM/PM details. * Assist program management in the preparation for all inspections, program reviews, and internal/external accreditation audits. Program Operations (50%) * Complete intake and discharge procedures for all residents upon arrival and at exit. * Conduct program orientations for newly arrived residents. * Prepare informational, infraction and incident reports as necessary. * Assist in and/ or monitor the delivery, storage, preparation and service of meals. * Oversee resident family and sponsor visitations. * Store, monitor and dispense resident medications per prescribed protocol. * Transport residents to outside activities in accordance with program policies and contract stipulations. * Assume shift lead responsibilities in the absence of a Resident Monitor II. Communication & Collaboration (10%) * Promote and model teamwork and collaboration with co-workers. * Work in partnership with Community Corrections Officers and/or case managers to achieve program goals and provide high impact services to residents. * Attend scheduled staff meetings, program meetings as appropriate or upon request and complete required trainings. * Participate in work groups and committees organized by the Assistant Director or * Director and other external agencies as appropriate. Perform Other Duties as Required WORKING CONDITIONS Work Setting, including hazards: * Work is performed in a secured work release facility. May use and/or be exposed to commercial low grade janitorial and laundry chemicals. Potential exposure to bodily fluids, escalated situations, and unpredictable behavior. * Must be able to lift upwards of 25 lbs. * Must wear safety protective equipment as required (i.e., safety glasses, gloves & foot protection). * Must be able to sit or stand continuously for up to 8 hours per day. * Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and reach out and above shoulders. * Must be able to climb stairs. Schedule (i.e. hours and days): * This is a 24/7 facility and schedules may be subject to changes based on staffing requirements. Travel Requirements: * Must have a valid driver's license and insurance when operating a vehicle on PHS business. * Transportation of residents to and from approved outside activities as needed. Tools & Equipment: * Basic computer knowledge (e.g. email and MS Word) and office equipment operation. Two-way radio operation. Customer Interactions: * Appropriate/professional communications with community members, government contractors, and facility clients. Other: * Work uniform to include polo shirt (provided). * Must be able to pass and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications * Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

    • Experience: 6 months of experience working in the human services or criminal justice and/or correctional system(s) including internships and/or volunteer placements. * Must be able to pass and maintain security clearances as required by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP).
    • Must have a valid driver's license. Preferred/Desirable Qualifications
    • Education: Two year college level education * Experience: 1 year of experience working in the human services or criminal justice and/or correctional system(s) including internships and/or volunteer placements.
