POSITION COMPONENTS
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow with experience in neuroimmunology, with emphasis on the role of the adaptive immune system in neuroinflammatory diseases of the CNS. In this unique opportunity, the postdoctoral fellow will work independently towards research goals in the area of the role of T and B cells in neuroinflammation. The neuroscience team has considerable scientific expertise in this area and will be able to mentor the postdoctoral fellow towards asking scholarly questions with the overarching aim of unraveling novel B or T cell biology in neuroinflammatory diseases of the CNS. The goal of the postdoctoral fellow is to drive innovation in neuroimmunology resulting in 1-2 high-impact publications.
QUALIFICATIONS
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
PhD in Neuroscience, Immunology or related discipline with demonstration of research experience in neuroimmunology
Predoctoral candidates graduating soon are encouraged to apply; for candidates with Ph.D., less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience will be preferred
Predoctoral or postdoctoral work in T or B cell biology; proven experience in adaptive immunity research, in the form of scientific productivityreflected by publication(s)
Experience in multicolor flow cytometry is a must – this includes the ability to design, optimize, and implement panels to characterize cells isolated from peripheral and central (brain/spinal cord) tissues; this is required
Demonstrated imaging (confocal and/or 2-photon) experience, including experimental protocols to fix, collect, and label tissues is preferred
Prior in-vivo experience in disease models of neuroinflammation is also preferred; in the absence of such experience, you must demonstrate the ability to handle rodents with dosing and tissue collection (blood/spleen/meninges/brain/spinal cord) techniques
Prior research experience with rodent brain and meninges is an additional plus
Experience with rodent models involving passive transfer and subsequent tracking of cells is a plus
Self-driven, highly motivated candidate with a hunger to drive innovation
Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills and the ability to work in a highly matrixed environment are required
