    POSITION SUMMARY

    Are you an expert in Deep Learning and have a passion to transform Drug Discovery? Within the Drug Discovery data sciences organization of Janssen we have a position for a PostDoc that will join the computational chemistry team, a dynamic group of chemistry and data analytics experts with diverse backgrounds that develops and applies Deep Learning models for chemical reaction optimization.

    The position can be based in Beerse, Belgium, OR the USA. Remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the company.

    The new member is expected to develop, validate, and deploy ML/AI models in chemical synthesis projects and collaborate within interdisciplinary teams comprising computational chemists, process chemists, medicinal chemists, data scientists and IT experts across all therapeutic areas. They are expected to utilize their expertise and know-how to champion and promote AI/ML in the organization and identify new areas where AI/ML can have a positive impact.

    Role and responsibilities

    • Develop reactivity predictive models and statistical design of experiments with the aim to reduce synthesis cycle times and thus increase the impact of AI on the business.

    • Dive deeply into cutting edge research and publications in top scientific journals.

    • Communicate results in audiences with heterogeneous background.

    Requirements

    • PhD in machine learning, computer science, applied mathematics or relevant field

    • Expertise in developing deep neural networks (transformers, Bayesian neural nets, RNN, CNN) is required

    • Expertise with DeepLearning frameworks, like PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow

    • Expertise in work with large datasets

    • Expertise in GPU computing

    • Ability to present and communicate with stakeholders

    • Ability to translate data into information and strategies into executable action plans

    • Knowledge in ChemInformatics is desirable
