    Key Responsibilities:

    In this position, your primary accountability will be to participate in the development of biomedical optical products. More specifically, you will collaborate closely with vision scientists, optical designers, clinicians and internal and external Centers of Excellence across the world to identify and create scientific knowledge by developing novel clinical metrology instrumentation. You will use your experience with scientific programming and optomechanical hardware assembly to design and build optical test bench systems, and to identify, acquire and deploy commercial clinical metrology solutions. This involves partnering with clinicians, vision scientists and external researchers to identify desired clinical metrics, create system requirements, build or acquire novel instrumentation, deploy solution to the clinic and disseminate insights in technical reports, intellectual property disclosures and scientific publications.

    You will adhere to all environmental and safety policies and procedures and support department environmental objectives as well as engage in Credo-based decision making.

    Qualifications

    • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Optical Sciences, Photonics or Physics, received in the last 3 years or by October 2024
    • Legally authorized to work in the United States for the full duration of the 2-year fellowship, sponsorship will not be provided
    • Advanced knowledge of at least one programming language (Python, MATLAB, C# or similar).
    • Advanced knowledge of electronics hardware and software troubleshooting.
    • Experience with Optical test bench design and build, hands-on.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, root-cause, and data analysis/mining skills with a strong attention to detail are helpful.
    • Experience of working within a team, have excellent communication skills and be able to work under their own initiative.
    • Candidates must be diligent, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks

    Preferred:

    • Experience with optomechanical design
    • Knowledge of physiological optics
    • Strong publication and presentation record

    The salary for this position is $95,000/year, this position is eligible for a sign-on bonus. This is a two-year duration-based role that has eligibility for severance.

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

    • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year
    • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year
    • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
