    Janssen Supply Chain is currently looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist–to be based in Spring House, PA. The duration of this position is two years with the possibility of extension or conversion into a full-time role based on performance and business need.

    The Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) group is looking for a Post-doctoral scientist to join the Emerging Technologies team to implement innovative solutions tom improve manufacturing. Our team innovates processes to improve reliability and yield and implements process analytical technology (PAT) sensors and machine learning modeling to support next-generation manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. Support for biopharmaceuticals require fresh thinking to support real time measurements for product quality attributes through the use of PAT. PAT is a key enabler of advanced process control (APC) and real time release testing (RTRt) initiatives for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

    The candidate will design research around novel PAT and data analytics technology on a development scale to support commercial scale implementation. Although we support all therapeutic platforms, a focus in our large molecule drug substance and drug product are prioritized critical initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for design and execution of lab-scale protocols to develop the technology and develop business cases to support commercial implementation. The candidate will develop multivariate models to support real time release initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate new PAT sensors
    • Originate, lead and complete projects using mechanistic modeling and/or PAT projects for implementation in manufacturing
    • Collaborate with various other functions within the larger MSAT and R&D teams
    • Develop, validate, and implement high impact models in a GMP environment
    • Develop new strategies for next generation manufacturing
    • Lead activities associated with ongoing multivariate analysis projects

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. received within the last 3 years or by the start date of this position with 0-2 years of experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field
    • Training in analytics and statistics to analyze information and draw conclusions based upon their findings
    • Exhibit strong understanding of material characterization methods, including spectroscopy, microscopy, thermal, and physical methods
    • Proficient in programming languages such as R, Matlab, Python are strongly preferred
    • Excellent communication, verbal, written, and presentation skills are required
    • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship at the time of hire or in the future

    The salary for this position is $95,000/year, this position is eligible for a sign-on bonus. This is a two year duration based role that has eligibility for severance.

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

    • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year
    • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
