Position Summary ProMedicas public relations team is seeking a highly motivated intern who is eager to gain advanced knowledge in media relations. This entry-level position is designed to provide a current student or recent college graduate with a valuable opportunity to apply knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-life work situations. The chosen intern candidate will have the opportunity to learn about cultivating relationships with the media and facilitating news stories, as well as strategic media relations planning, tracking and goal measurement. Primary Duties : the individual will assist and participate as appropriate in the following areas.  Shadowing and observation experiences will also be scheduled as well permitting a wider range of administrative experience that might help to broaden the learning experience. Support media relations activities across the health system to help us share stories about clinical excellence, patient experiences, advanced healthcare technology, events and more Create press releases, media advisories and other public relations content as needed Gather background information for and help coordinate media interviews Research appropriate media contacts and editorial calendars Monitor media coverage and assist with media coverage tracking Participate and/or coordinate projects and analytical tasks as assigned Prepare reports and newsletters as requested Assist in maintaining established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality and safety standards Attend meetings within scope of internship Participate in shadowing/observation of departments in areas of interest within the organization Perform other duties as assigned Job Requirements College/University junior or senior, or recent graduate of a BA or BS program in public relations, communication, marketing, journalism or equivalent area of focus. Knowledge of public relations, journalism or media relations preferred. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Intermediate knowledge of and professional experience with Microsoft Office programs, Hootsuite, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
