In line with this focus, Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for a Public Policy Intern. This role will be U.S.-based, working in a flexible environment based in Washington, D.C. The intern will be a part of the Johnson & Johnson Worldwide Government Affairs & Policy (WWGA&P) organization, where we unleash the power of people and policy to create a healthier future for all.

The Public Policy Intern will be responsible for supporting the work of a dynamic global team engaged in developing insights- and data-driven analyses, global policy positions, and advocacy plans. The Intern will support policy activities related to enterprise and sector work, including our Innovative Medicines,and MedTech businesses. The Intern will report into Global Policy in the U.S., while offering opportunities to participate in global projects across regions.

Responsibilities:

The Public Policy summer internship program is crafted to help successful, highly motivated, diverse entry-level talent make an impact on patients every day and become tomorrow’s leaders. The internship is designed to provide an integrated, educational, robust experience for qualified candidates interested in government affairs and policy careers.

Participants will experience the breadth and depth of the WWGA&P function by participating in key projects and programs in support of the needs of the Global Policy team.

The Public Policy intern will support the WWGA&P Global Policy team by:

• Conducting research and preparing materials.
• Drafting briefs, positions, and other materials in collaboration with internal policy and subject matter experts.
• Participating in internal meetings and attending external policy meetings to advance projects and positions.
• Bringing unique experiences and perspectives to enhance our global policy work.

Qualifications - External

Required:

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g. H1-B status).
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 cumulative from an accredited college or graduate-level education program.
• Basic proficiency with the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required
• Strong project management skills, excellent communication, presentation skills, and leadership qualities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives while maintaining a strong sense of urgency.
• The ability to work full time (40 hours per week) during the duration of the internship, with some adjustments around global time zone differences.
• Ability to work effectively in a virtual work setting.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with international or U.S. health systems.
• An interest in government affairs, policy, and/or healthcare policy.
• Currently pursuing a degree in government affairs, political science, policy, law, health, economics, public affairs, or other related disciplines.
• Previous experience in professional employment setting(s).
