SOARING HEIGHTS SCHOOL IS SEEKING A STUDENT SUPPORT ASSISTANT TO JOIN OUR GROWING TEAM!
SCOPE OF POSITION & TECHNICAL COMPETENCY:
Works 1:1 or in larger group ratios with students identified with intellectual, emotional or physical disabilities and challenging behaviors.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Implements, models, and assists staff and caregivers with implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans and Individual Treatment Plans, as designed by Behavioral Specialists, located in school, home or community settings as specified in the individual plan.
Collects student data
Completes daily required documentation
Supports student development of various behavioral and emotional skills as specified in the PBSP
Assists caregivers and staff with addressing therapeutic needs of the student
Implements Positive Behavior Support Plans and ABA-based interventions.
Collects, enters, and graphs ABA data. Compiles and/or gathers, and organizes all data for monthly progress review.
Model the values and ethical guidelines set forth by Soaring Heights Schools.
Participate in supervision sessions.
Maintains open and effective communications with colleagues, supervisors, support staff and when appropriate outside agencies.
Assist with or implement transition programming in the school or community settings.
Assist school personnel (director, administrative assistant, teacher, teacher assistant, etc) or student to arrange the schools environment to best meet the students physical and psychological needs.
Assist school personnel with creating, copying, grading of classroom and student materials.
Assist with proper crisis intervention and prevention techniques and complete appropriate forms.
Perform Personal Care duties with toileting, eating and grooming activities when necessary.
Communicate to the teacher learning issues that a student(s) may be experiencing with assigned tasks.
Participates in crisis intervention and prevention techniques and complete appropriate forms
Maintains open and effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, support staff and, when appropriate, outside agencies
Monitors students appropriately
Presents a positive and nurturing attitude
Demonstrates creativity and flexibility with the daily routine of the school day
Continuously meets supervision and training requirements set forth by SHS, PDE and DHS
Assists with any other needs throughout the building (van duty, driving, laundry, cleaning, dietary, etc )
Participates in in-service trainings and professional development
Performs specific RBT responsibilities as assigned and permitted, based on training experience and competency
Performs other related duties as assigned
PRINCIPAL RESULTS EXPECTED: (WHAT PERFORMANCE GOALS DO YOU EXPECT FOR THIS POSITION)
Help to develop and maintain a strong education program. Work collaboratively with other staff to meet the needs of those served. Complete required training and mandatory training hours.
PROFILE: (KNOWLEDGE/PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES)
Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, Knowledge of Release of Information and Confidentiality, Knowledge of ASD assessments and Applied Behavioral Analysis, Ability to demonstrate professionalism in a variety of environments
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma, 18 years of age or older, 2 or more years experience working with children in an educational, hospital or home setting. Experience working with Special Education students in a school setting or behavioral interventions in a community based setting preferred.
