    Responsible for conducting technical quality assurance inspections and using results to improve production processes and standards.

    The Quality Lab Technician 3 will report directly to the Laboratory Supervisor and be responsible for general laboratory support as well as routine testing in compliance with laboratory test methods and procedures to support the Manufacturing and timely delivery of product to customers.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

    • Performs sophisticated tests and analyses to assure that products align with established specifications.

    • Carries out difficult calculations and prepares documentation that shows the results of tests performed.

    • Completes record of inspection results, acceptance, rejection, and disposition.

    • Enters data into logbooks or computer databases.

    • Compiles data and prepares reports on findings.

    • Conducts scheduled calibration and maintenance on test equipment.

    • Establishes maintenance and calibration schedule for test equipment based on manufacturers recommendations and maintains equipment records.

    • Coordinates specialized product/customer quality testing.

    • Prepares custom reports on results.

    • Recommends and implements revisions, corrections and changes to test equipment, procedures, and methods.

    • Troubleshoots defective products returned by customers to determine root causes of failure.

    • Compiles data to identify trends and proposes corrective action.

    • Initiates and coordinates discussions with quality, engineering, and other relevant departments to develop corrective actions for reoccurring problems.

    • Sampling.

    • Preparation of sample labels.

    • Independent analysis of routine samples using the applicable test methods.

    • Logging in of samples into LIMS or manual system which would include logbooks and the maintenance of control numbers.

    • Performing and monitoring routine testing using laboratory instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR etc.

    • Recognizing problems during the analysis.

    • Initiating investigations for non-conforming laboratory test results.

    • Performing daily calibration/verification checks on laboratory instruments.

    • Making and recording observations and calculations.

    • Collecting and preparing data for evaluation.

    • Archiving documentation on testing that has been completed.

    • Performing other related duties as assigned by management.

    • Maintaining clean work area.

    • Supporting laboratory housekeeping, environmental and safety initiatives.

    • Work in team environment behaving in a CREDO based respectful.

    • Adhere to J&J environmental and safety policies and guidelines.

    • Follow all job specific safety procedures and use PPE when vital.

    • Follow quality system requirements as defined within procedures and instructions.

    • Use test equipment (Starrett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope, Instron, etc.) where applicable.

    • Use applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g., Compliance Wire, ADAPTIV, etc.)

    • Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE's), if applicable

    • Support LEAN and Six Sigma Initiatives.

    • Support Maintenance Excellence (ME2) including 6S and Operator Asset Care.

    • Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation).

    • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

    • Consistently meet required Training due date targets.

    • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.

    • For those who supervise or lead a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable.

    • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.

    • Performs other duties assigned as needed.

  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    • Generally, requires 4-6 Years Work Experience.
    • An Associate's Degree, High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
    • Greater than 5 years of experience in a GMP laboratory environment performing progressively advanced duties at the Technician 2 Level.
    • Training in GMP and ISO requirements.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    REQUIRED:

    • Ability to use Laboratory Software Applications such as Chromatographic Data Systems, Laboratory Execution Systems and Laboratory Information Management Systems.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Good interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
    • Must be able to interact well with peers and colleagues.
    • Self-motivated.
