    Summer Intern- Facilities Management Intern Tracking Code 39459 Job Description General Summary The Facilities Management Intern will assist in the administration and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment, and the procurement of generate utilities and their distribution systems. Incumbent is guided by thorough knowledge of construction management, plant operations methods, techniques, maintenance, applicable codes and regulations, and use of departmental equipment and supplies, principles of management and supervision and procedures and policies of departments and facility. Principal Responsibilities Assists with preparation, review, and maintenance of department records in compliance of The Joint Commission, Department of Health Standards, local authorities, and other regulatory agencies. Works with the Facilities Manager in the coordination of construction and renovation programs for the facility. Monitors and inspects employee work performance to assure performance standards are maintained through use of the computers maintenance management system. Monitors maintenance and improvement projects performed by vendors and contractors, ensuring third-party partners are prequalified for safety and inspecting completed work. Assists in coordination of the facilitys fire response team. Assists Facilities Manager with developing the scope and budget for projects. Assists with pre-construction activities including, studies, testing, cost estimating and design Supervises construction sites for adherence to contract scope and safe construction practices Tracks all financial aspects of projects including budgets, commitments and expenditures Maintains construction documents in organized files and ensure all construction documents are properly archived Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Reporting Relationships Reports directly to the Facilities Manager Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Four-year degree in facilities management or related field in progress. The ability to read, comprehend, and transmit complicated detailed instruction in writing and verbally. Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Good physical condition and ability to operate departmental equipment. Sits; stands; bends; kneels; climb stairs, ladders, and equipment; has good sense of balance to work on heights. Some lifting of medium and/or heavy equipment and tools. Ability to meet deadlines and make sound decisions, sometimes under stress. Working Conditions Some exposure to hazards or risks including heat, noise, dust and dirt, and areas requiring infection control. Able to work flexible hours as necessary to maintain facility in a safe manner including nights and weekends. Sits; stands; bends; kneels; climb stairs, ladders, and equipment; has good sense of balance to work on heights. Some lifting of medium and/or heavy equipment and tools.
