    Johnson and Johnson's World Without Disease Accelerator is seeking a Research Assistant co-op student who is pursuing a degree in the biological sciences to support research projects in Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease. 

    Successful candidates will have a basic understanding of cellular and molecular biology, demonstrated strong performance in relevant science courses, and have some experience working in a biological science laboratory.

    Preferred candidates will have completed their junior year. 

    This position will leverage lab-based and literature-based research to deepen our understanding of the mechanisms contributing to type 1 diabetes and celiac disease in support of drug target validation and drug development programs. 

    THE RESEARCH ASSISTANT CO-OP WILL:

    • Conduct literature searches and reviews using PubMed and other online databases
    • Learn and implement laboratory techniques in cell and molecular biology such as tissue culture, immune cell isolation from human and rodent samples, cell activation assays, immuno-assays, and PCR.
    • Design and execute laboratory experiments to address key biological questions
    • Analyze, document, and effectively communicate experimental results
    • Collaborate with team members locally and virtually

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited College/University pursuing a business or technical degree and in their junior/senior year.
    • Candidates must be available to work full time.
    • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future. 
    • Demonstrated leadership is preferred.
    • Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
    • Candidates must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
    • Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel (including a high proficiency with generating pivot tables and graphs), and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Additional technical competencies in SharePoint and other information technology systems are highly desirable.
    • A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
    • Participation in campus/community service activities is desired.
