    Medical Assistant - Psychiatric ****

    Riverside is seeking a passionate Medical Assistant with Psychiatric experiences to join our Community Behavioral Health Center in Norwood! This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team of dedicated behavioral health professionals!

    The Medical Assistant is responsible for managing the flow of information, communication, and data in the CBHC administrative office for those tasks related to supporting medical staff. The Medical Assistant will also provide clinical support, maintain, and organize necessary databases and files, and perform general reception and clerical duties to enhance the efficient operation of the program. Must have 6 months of psych and /or addiction experience.

    Among other assigned tasks, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for:

    • Answer telephones, screen and direct calls to the appropriate individuals
    • Greet and direct visitors to the appropriate program/individual.
    • Request medical records from outside sources as needed.
    • Collect consumer payments and maintain client ledgers daily, as needed.
    • Complete all required administrative documentation in a timely fashion and maintain consumer record files in accordance with quality assurance standards.
    • Assist psychiatric staff by scheduling appointments for medication visits and assisting with medical documentation.
    • Provide support to Psychiatrist and NPs by communicating with clients served regarding scheduling, referrals, questions and problem solving.
    • Obtain vital signs and metrics as needed and requested by medical staff (e.g. height/weight, blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, etc.)
    • Maintain temperature logs as needed for refrigerated medications.
    • Collaborate with coworkers in sharing workload.
    • Attend supervision and utilize scheduled individual and/or peer supervision meetings. Bring issues of concern and/or importance to supervisor for consultation. Come prepared to supervision and utilize supervisor’s feedback constructively to improve skills and/or modify behavior as needed.
    • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

    Schedule : Thursdays and Fridays 8am- 8pm (24 hours per week)

    Pay Rate: $22.66/hour with a differential rate of $3.00/hour with phlebotomy experience.

    Required Skills

    • Strong verbal communication skills.
    • Highly organized and detail oriented.
    • Minimum of three years proven experience using Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle (may be required, depending on program location).

    Required Experience

    • High School degree required with some college coursework preferred.
    • Valid Massachusetts Medical Assistance license.
    • One to two years of experience in an office environment
    • 6 months of psych and/or addiction experience preferred.
    • Phlebotomy experience a plus.
