    Status: Full Time

    Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., including weekend on call hours

    Basic Summary: The CSTFA functions collaboratively as a member of the surgery team, coordinating intra-operative patient care for the surgical patients.  The CSTFA should be proficient in the use of and knowledge of instruments, equipment, and supplies used in the surgical setting.  The CSTFA assists the surgeon with various surgical duties to include suturing, tissue exposure, and hemostasis as directed by the surgeon.  The duties and responsibilities of the CSTFA are performed under the direct supervision of the surgeon who must be readily available.  He/she provides leadership by working cooperatively with other health care personnel, and maintains standards for professional practice in the clinical setting.  This position will follow Association of Operating Room Nursing’s (AORN) guidelines.  Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

    Position Requirements: 

    • Graduate of an OR Technician program required.
    • Graduate of a First Assistant program required.
    • Certified Surgical Technician required.
    • Certified Surgical First Assistant preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years diversified OR experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in applying principles of asepsis and infection control.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operative technique relative to operative procedures wherein the CSTFA assists.
    • Recognizes safety hazards and initiates appropriate corrective action.
    • Demonstrated ability to function effectively and harmoniously as a team member.
    • Performs functions of a certified surgical technician as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    • High school graduate or equivalent related experience
    • Valid driver's license necessary
    • Auto insurance levels that meet UNFI requirements

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Prior customer service experience in a retail setting
    • System Implementation preferred

     

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Good communication skills
    • Time management skills and attention to detail
    • Basic math abilities
    • Ability to work independently

     

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    • Ability to get in and out of car multiple times per day
    • Drive to and from accounts safely in city, rural and expressway conditions
    • Ability to set up displays, fixtures, shelving and products
    • Able to tolerate exposure to store and warehouse conditions including wide variances in temperature, dust and dirt
    • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
