REACH is part of the Office of Community Health Equity and Engagement (CHEE) at Rush University Medical Center.The Community Health Equity Intern is responsible for supporting the Rush Education and Career Hub's public policy and advocacy priorities in the areas of education, health, financial stainability and community strengthening. This role offers the intern experience in creating a public policy and advocacy strategy to increase engagement with the key target audiences and strengthening strategic community partnerships. The intern will work closely with REACH team members as well as other teams within CHEE, other departments at Rush, and community partners. This role will be instrumental in increasing our public policy and advocacy presence, solidifying our brand, and raising awareness of our programs within Rush and in the community.This is a part-time internship (flexible start date)Hours: 20 hr/wk (between M-F 8:00am-5:30pm)Job Responsibilities:Create and implement policy & advocacy strategy Conduct research on policy, education, or federal advocacy Provide staff with support in research and analysis of various topics, organizations, and key players in the field. Assist in the development of case studies of promising practices in community partnerships, education, and health equity. Assist in the preparation of publications and policy fact sheetsKeep staff abreast of trends in community health equity, education reform. Other duties as assignedRequired Job Qualifications:Undergraduate or recent graduate studying public policy, health sciences, public administration, education, or another related field of study. Demonstrated an interest in community health, policy and advocacy A passion for community engagement and health equityExcellent attention to detailThe ability to prioritize work and complete tasks with quick turnaround timeThe ability to work collaboratively with a teamStrong writing/editing skills. Strong project management skills.
