We are seeking a Patient Access Financial Counselor to join our South Loop Multidisciplinary Clinic at Rush! This is a Full Time position 80 hours every two weeks, benefit-eligible Day Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Position Highlights: The Financial Counselor is responsible for providing a welcoming, high quality and supportive clinic service experience for patients, families, visitors and staff. The position is responsible for greeting, triaging patients to the kiosk, assisting the patient in use of the kiosk and responding to the needs of these customers by providing information, high quality service and support in a timely manner. Individuals in this position are expected to behave in a positive and enthusiastic manner as they are often the first contact patients and visitors will have with Rush. In all interactions, the Financial Counselor will be mindful of Rush's ICARE values of innovation, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence, and will exemplify the Rush mission, vision, and values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. Position Responsibilities: Initiate greetings and positive interaction with patients, visitors, and staff. Provide a welcoming impression and convey clear, precise information and directions in both face to face and telephone encounters. Respect all customers' privacy, perspective, priorities, time and abilities. Monitor and report on trends related to service needs for the purpose of continuously improving service delivery. Comply at all times with the Rush's clinic policies and procedures to ensure high quality service delivery. Assists with support for effective patient flow. Ensure the work environment is clean, well organized, safe, and presents a professional and welcoming image to customers. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and demeanor, which includes wearing proper attire and name tag when working. Assist patients in the use of the kiosk and completion of the Epic registration process. Obtain or assist patients in the completion of registration forms, i.e. ABN, Out of Network. Update patient's insurance in Epic. Assign tablets when appropriate. Identify tablets that are not in working order. Be able to determine and accept patient's co-pays, when appropriate. Performs financial counseling for self-pay, high balance, and bad debt patients. Assists patients on Rush's Financial Assistance Program. Creates payment plans, when appropriate. Provide price estimate for any Rush services. Completes the insurance verification, authorization and notification, when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Qualifications Include: High school diploma or equivalent required. 2 years of previous experience in a healthcare environment as a Registrar, Biller/Collector or Financial Counselor. Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking skills Ability to set appropriate priorities in a dynamic environment Excellent customer service skills Collaborate and work well with employees at all levels Communicate effectively and in a positive manner, both orally and in writing Good computer skills Basic knowledge of medical terminology Possesses a thorough understanding of insurance plans (benefits) and contracts (in/out network) and be able to explain coverage-related concepts to patients; i.e. out of network.
