linkedin.com/scvmc. Typical Tasks * Shakes out soiled laundry and sorts
it into piles of similar articles; * Weighs soiled laundry and records
weight in computerized system; * Operates materials handling equipment,
including pallet jacks and laundry carts; * Operates tumble dryers by
loading dryer and setting timer for proper drying cycle; * Unloads
dryers and places dried articles into designated carts for sorting and
folding; * Cleans lint traps and keeps entire area clean; * Safely
replaces laundry chemical containers as necessary; * Keeps production
records and marks items for proper distribution; * Separates heavily
stained or torn garments or linens and routes for rewashing or mending;
- Collects bags of soiled laundry from various sites; * Transports clean
laundry to various sites; * Keeps laundry machinery and facility orderly
and clean by dusting, sweeping, mopping and emptying wastebaskets; *
Takes inventories of Unit's par levels utilizing computerized systems
for inventory control and record keeping; * Unpacks, sorts and stores
laundry items on shelves and other storage areas; * May operate
commercial-type washers on a relief or training basis; * May be assigned
as a Disaster Service Worker, as required; * Performs other related
duties as required. Employment Standards Sufficient education, training
and experience to demonstrate the ability to perform the above tasks and
attainment of the knowledge and abilities listed below. Experience Note:
The knowledge and abilities required to perform this function are
typically obtained through possession of a high school diploma or
equivalent and one (1) year of work experience in an industrial
environment such as manufacturing or warehouse performing such duties as
pushing heavy carts, negotiating truck lifts, moving pallets and boxes
or other duties that require physical exertion. Possession of a valid
California Driver's License prior to appointment and the ability to
qualify for and maintain a County Driver's Permit. Knowledge of: * Safe
lifting and carrying practices; * Basic mathematics; * Basic computer
use (familiarity with a computer); * Heavy equipment used in the
movement of heavy and/or bulky items. Ability to: * Communicate
effectively in English, both orally and in writing; * Read signs, dials,
labels, and simple instructions; * Perform simple mathematical
calculations; * Use a computer; * Distinguish between differences in
shapes, widths, stains, tears or worn spots in laundry items; * Perform
routine and repetitive activities in the handling of laundry. * Adapt
quickly to changes in assignments and priorities; * Establish and
maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the
course of work; * Exercise motor coordination and finger and manual
dexterity; * Work in a safe manner; * Lift and carry heavy or bulky
items, weighing up to 50 lbs; * Operate a cargo van including the
lifting mechanism; * Train in and learn duties in all laundry locations
