PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER New Position Public Safety Full-Time · Evening shift · 4:00pm - 12:00am Job Details Summary of Position: Assumes responsibility for providing a safe and secure atmosphere for patrons and employees of the hospital. Primary Job Responsibilities: Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to deter criminal acts and to report unsafe condition as per the requirements and procedures defined in the department's policy and procedure manual. Responds to all codes according to hospital policy. Assists in controlling disorderly/combative persons in cases of an emergency as per the hospital's code policies and procedures. During emergencies and other situations, selects priorities to be completed accordingly. Enforces traffic and parking regulations on the hospital grounds as per the parking management plan. Issues parking violations to illegally parked vehicles on hospital property as required. Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, medical staff, visitors and property of hospital to the extent and level defined in the department's policies and procedures. Assists motorists by making calls for those who are locked out of cars, to change tires, dead batteries, etc. Maintains current information for valuable retention/lost and found logs; notifies individuals when lost items are located. Responds to requests for assistance within the complex. Provides escort services for persons as needed. Performs requested emergency transport services for employees and after hour deliveries of medical equipment. Maintains a daily log of all activities and job functions that occur during his/her scheduled work hours. Initiates documentation of unusual circumstances, unsafe conditions, malfunctions and fire hazards. Is proficient in the usage of Hospital programs including but not limited to the Access control system and CCTV system. Processes admissions and discharges from the morgue. Assists with helicopter transports. Performs watches for behavioral patients. Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience in law enforcement or security preferred. Thirty days of on-the-job training required. A valid NYS driver's license with no restrictions is required. Must be able to get approved under Saratoga Hospital's auto insurance. Must be 21 years of age. Must have completed the Eight Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course for Security Guards to obtain employment and become a registered guard with the New York State Licensing Department within six (6) months from the date of hire.
