    We are searching for the best talent for a Scientist, Bioanalysis – Target Engagement to be onsite in Spring House, PA.

    Purpose:
    The Bioanalytical Discovery and Development Sciences (BDDS) organization develops, validates, and conducts bioanalytical sample analysis across the entire J&J Innovative Medicines (JJIM) R&D portfolio from discovery through development. We are looking for an accomplished and dedicated Scientist to design and perform target engagement assays within BDDS for Johnson & Johnson portfolio projects spanning all modalities and therapeutic areas from nonclinical studies to post-market clinical development.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Conduct receptor occupancy method qualification and bioanalysis using multi-parameter flow cytometry of samples supporting preclinical and clinical studies to assess target engagement of therapeutics in J&J developmental pipeline.
    • Work in a regulated GLP/GCLP environment under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive environment.
    • Promote assigned project activities through hands-on data generation, quality control (QC) and data analysis.
    • Use advanced computer software packages to collect, analyze, and interpret flow cytometry data.
    • Set priorities for experimental work to ensure adequate progress of team projects and objectives. Ensure laboratory efficiency as well as compliance with good laboratory practices and other regulatory guidelines.
    • Author assay checklists, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical reports,
    • Mentor more junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities.
    • Actively participate in internal seminars and keep up-to-date with documentation, published literature and regulatory guidance’s to develop knowledge of current academic and industry practices and apply to internal Johnson & Johnson projects and processes.
    • Understand and apply Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.
    • May also conduct method development for target engagement assays on other platforms including soluble target ligand binding assays and/or hybrid LC-MS/MS assays.

    Qualifications / Requirements:

    Education:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Immunology or a related discipline is required
    • Advanced degree is preferred

    Required:

    • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or academic setting
    • Demonstrated experience using multi-parametric flow cytometry (6+ colors) and flow analysis software (such as Flowjo or FCS Express)
    • Solid understanding of cellular techniques, including mammalian cell culture, handling and processing of human and animal (non-human primates (NHP), mice, rats, dogs, etc.) blood, PBMCs and aseptic techniques
    • Familiarity with BSL2 safety practices for working in the laboratory
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and documentation skills
    • Must have strong motivation to quickly learn new skills, grow as a scientist and adapt to challenges of the job
    • The ability to multi-task, prioritize and plan based on project needs, and work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
    • The ability to independently perform experimental design, including generation, analysis and QC of data and interpretation of results
    • The ability to interact and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment

    Preferred:

    • Hands-on experience and solid understanding of GLP/GCLP bioanalysis and regulatory guidelines to assess safety and efficacy of therapeutics
    • Knowledge of T cell and B cell biology and immunological mechanisms of disease and biotherapeutics
    • Experience with pharmacokinetic, immune response and/or soluble target engagement assays on ELISA, MSD, LC-MS and/or similar assay platforms
