    The Scientist I, QA Microbiology provides technical support to the operations of the manufacturing facility while under general supervision, ensuring departmental procedures meet company specifications and regulatory requirements. Participates in the execution of QA microbiology test methods and updates SOPs and protocols to document findings. Maintains routine and non-routine microbiology monitoring programs.

    Adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    This is not meant as an all-inclusive list but as a top-level list of duties that this person generally completes:

    · Collects and analyzes water system, in-process, pre-sterile product, and environmental data independently, determining if it fits specifications or not.

    · Initiates and participates in laboratory investigations / non-conformance investigations.

    · Reviews, trends, analyzes and reports sterilization or Microbiology data.

    · Writes or assists in the revisions of internal departmental procedures.

    · Performs organism identifications.

    · Supports sterilizer equipment qualifications

    · Works on special projects (ex. Equipment Qualification, Test Method Validation, etc.).

    · Participates in company safety objectives.

    · Performs media orders, receives media & executes quality control testing for media and organisms.

    · Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Qualifications

    · A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology or other related science discipline is required.

    · At least a year of work experience in the scientific/technical field is required.

    · Ability to pay special attention to detail with degree of accuracy.

    · Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

    · Must be familiar with GMP, GLP, SOP, and ISO.
