    Experience : 0 Description : In the Circle Fathers' Program in collaboration with DYCD and Healthy Start Brooklyn is designed to provide fathers in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brownsville, East New York, and the neighboring community with information and resources specific to their issues as fathers in an urban environment. Our POSITION OVERVIEW: SCO's Fatherhood Program Director is seeking an intern for the purpose of increasing support for fathers in the community. (male candidates are encouraged to apply) The candidate should possess good oral and written communication skills along with experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Program evaluation, experience working on grants, and conducting focus groups are a plus. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Fatherhood Program Intern will perform the following duties: Conduct community outreach and education that increase families' understanding of the importance of father/partner involvement in the lives of their children. Assist with facilitation of In the Circle's fatherhood classes. Promote and assist in the execution of Healthy Start Brooklyn's In the Circle monthly programming. Assist in the planning and promotion of local events for families. Engage and maintain communication with community partners. Participate in grants reporting, review and evaluation. Maintain accurate statistics and generate monthly written reports and other updates. QUALIFICATIONS: Undergraduate student in public health or related field. Experience conducting community outreach and education, particularly in health, small business, and/or community development sectors. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with literature reviews and report writing. Knowledge of and/or comfort with working with people who are court involved. PREFFERED SKILLS: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community groups and organizations. Strong commitment to social justice, community and gender empowerment, and health equity. Experience engaging young families and men of color. Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments. Ability to travel throughout Brooklyn. Knowledge of Central Brooklyn.
