The Commercial Data Science team is seeking a highly innovative and strategic leader to drive Data Science/ AI/ Generative AI innovation, champion technological breakthroughs, and enable seamless integration of reusable AI components across the organization. The candidate will have a strong background in inventing and scaling Data Science/ AI capabilities, managing partner ecosystems, and transitioning solutions to production with a component-driven architecture. This role plays a part in new AI technology breakthroughs and in ensuring operational excellence for improving the reusability of AI innovations.
You will be a leader in a highly collaborative and supportive team, which is part of a broader dynamic and accomplished organization that supports multiple therapeutic areas and commercial functions.

AI Innovation:
Enable sustainable innovation through reusable Data Science/ AI components, cost-effective operations, and streamlined production workflows. Oversee vendor contributions to ensure production quality and innovation
Provide individual and team leadership to data scientists and AI/ML engineers, providing scientific and business mentorship in a fast-paced, matrixed environment to ensure they are growing their capabilities and achieving their career goals
Forge deep collaborations with other NA data and data science and AI leaders across J&J to develop the related technology strategy, including data, tools, methods, infrastructure, and partnerships
Drive organizational vision and strategy as a core member of the Commercial Data Science Chapter Leadership Team
PhD and 5+ years, or Master degree and 8+ years of proven experience with degree in Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or similar fields.
8+ years of experience in Data Science AI innovation and production deployments, with a track record of building scalable, reusable components.
Solid grasp of AI-type algorithms, including machine learning techniques such as regression, decision trees, clustering, neural networks, and/or large language models
Proficient understanding of pharmaceutical commercial operations, encompassing healthcare professional engagement, medical affairs, patient engagement, and overall business processes
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, Ruby, or Bash.
Experience with MLOps frameworks like Kubeflow, MLFlow, or Airflow.
Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools, including Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with AI engineering on cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP.
Proven thought leadership on relevant problems with examples of implementing innovative analytic solutions and driving outstanding results with measured impact
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain sophisticated methodologies to diverse audiences
Experience managing data science teams, as well as recruiting and developing talent

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000 to $235,750
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
