    Job Description:

    The Neuropsychiatry Discovery department at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Senior Scientist, Neuropsychiatry , located in San Diego, CA, USA.

    We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative researcher, who will actively engage and contribute to discovery efforts to support the Johnson & Johnson Neuropsychiatry strategy. This individual will be responsible for advancing research initiative and support pipeline programs by applying their expertise and experience. This position presents a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and drug development to improve outcomes for patients suffering from psychiatric diseases.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Independently design, perform and interpret biochemical, cell and molecular biology experiments, and creatively develop and troubleshoot complex experimental protocols, to support target discovery and validation activities for Neuropsychiatry.

    • Collaborate and work within an extended cross-functional team environment to support progress towards the project and team goals.

    • Prepare and record experimental reports that include detailed methods and materials, raw data, data analyses and graphs, and conclusions in an electronic laboratory notebook.

    • Follow laboratory safety and data integrity guidelines.

    • Present experimental results during group and project team meetings, and to internal and external scientific community through presentations and publications.

    • Stay informed about industry developments, continuously learn, and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • PhD degree with 0-3 years postdoctoral experience OR a Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience OR a Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology or a similar field is required.

    Experience and Skills:

    Required:

    • Solid understanding and broad experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques, cell culture and functional assay development.

    • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills to develop creative, innovative solutions and meet projects objectives.

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

    Preferred:

    • Expertise in Neuroscience, especially in Neuropsychiatry.

    • Knowledge of drug development and pharmacology principles.

    • Experience with in vitro modeling of brain disorders.

    Other:

    • Ability to work independently yet a strong team player in an international setting.

    • Good project management skills and able to prioritise multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Strong sense of urgency, efficient and flexible attitude.

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is $105,000 to $169,050.

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

      • Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

      • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year

      • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
