Essential Duties and Responsibilities The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties and responsibilities Essential Duty #1 Deliver interoffice mail and picks up mail from mail stops. Essential Duty #2 Transfer mail tubs from loading docks to mail room in the morning and mailroom to dock in the afternoon (if needed). Essential Duty #3 Sort and bundle mail for distribution. Research mail not properly addressed or properly coded. Essential Duty #4 Record all special class mail in computer or in proper log book according to procedures. Essential Duty #5 Assist with loading packages and mail carts daily. Assist with stuffing and metering mass mailings twice a month. Daily mail runs; three in the morning and five in the afternoon. Deliver UPS, USPS, and FedEx packages to desired locations. Additional Duties and Responsibilities * Meter special class mail according to postal fees and standards. May process machine able mail (folding, inserting, sealing, and opening) May require handling accountable mail May require opening and reading mail and forward to appropriate location May require processing requests for publications Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Participate in all other training required by funding source(s) as required such as Human Rights training. Submit to a Criminal Background Check and drug test (at our expense). Education, Experience, Certification and Licensures High School diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge preferred. One year experience working in a mail center required. Experience operating various mailroom machines preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to perform routine tasks on special class mail. Knowledge of HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail preferred. Preferred experience in UPS and Federal Express shipping and procedures. Preferred knowledge of U.S Postal regulations in the process of dealing with incoming, outgoing, certified, registered, insured and express mail. May be required to have a valid drivers license, safe driving records, automobile liability insurance, and own or have access to a privately-owned vehicle to transport mail within a 5-mile radius between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
