The Therapy Manager, Innovation Center oversees an interdisciplinary team of licensed and non-licensed professional allied health staff within a program area. Collaborates with the medical director and nurse manager to lead patient care and clinical outcomes while achieving program fiscal targets and adhering to regulatory requirements and best practice objectives.

Principal Responsibilities
The Therapy Manager, Innovation Center:
- Manages an interdisciplinary team of licensed and non-licensed professional therapy staff including physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists and rehabilitation technicians, integrating therapeutic evaluation and treatment plans within the Innovation Center.
- Collaborates with the Physician Section Chief and the Nurse Manager to lead achievement of the clinical, financial, safety, satisfaction, outcome measures, environment of care needs, access to inpatient care, and adherence to regulatory requirements as well as drive the integration of clinical and research goals.
- Works with clinical staff and inpatient schedulers to ensure inpatient therapeutic intervention is delivered with respect to identified patient therapy needs and available resources.
- Collaborates with Inpatient Access/Admitting, the International Program, the Workers Comp Program, and others to facilitate patient admissions, access, and discharge planning to optimize access to care and to realize organizational fiscal targets.
- Develops, implements, and delivers on annual budget target including initiating cost savings and revenue enhancing activities, managing human and material resource, as well as capital needs.
- Collaborates with Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Outpatient and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Day Rehabilitation Programs to facilitate referral of inpatients.
- Ensures the documentation of patient care activities within program area to track and report patient care and adherence to financial and regulatory targets.
- Ensures regulatory requirements are met including therapy service quality and financial objectives.
- Attracts, develops, and counsels staff to meet volume and quality service expectations through mentorship, continuing education, research opportunities, and practice council activities.
- Initiates and implements quality improvements in individual, program and organizational performance utilizing Shirley Ryan AbilityLab QI and other mechanisms to facilitate resolution of quality issues and / or the promotion of new quality initiatives.
- Teaches in the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Academy internal and external courses as well as acts as a consultant at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab offsite centers and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Alliances as appropriate.
- Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
Required Experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Degree from an accredited program necessary to be a licensed in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology required.
- Current licensure or registration in the State of Illinois pertaining to the PT, OT, and SLP allied health practice.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Minimum 7 years of clinical experience.
- Quantitative and analytical ability required to evaluate existing programs, promote research activities, and develop new programs.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective leadership and communicate effectively with patients, patient families, referring parties, managed care organizations and payers’, center and other Shirley Ryan AbilityLab system-wide staff.
- Working knowledge of information technology tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite, Cerner, electronic medical records, and appropriate web-based applications and services.
