    General Summary

    The Director, IT Operations is committed to tactical and strategic initiatives in which Information Systems will play a pivotal role both in providing systems support and in being an integral part of future services offered to Shirley Ryan Abilitylab patients and clients.

    Under general supervision, the Director, IT Operations provides leadership to the technical architecture and support teams. Directs the evaluation, selection and design of infrastructure components and platforms required to support the organization’s operational and strategic business objectives. Works with other IS resources to assure the development and implementation of network, security, and end-user technologies designed to collect, store, and distribute data and monitor the performance of existing systems. Directs modification of existing systems to optimize system performance and integrate new components. Researches emerging technologies to identify opportunities for improvement of existing systems, address new business requirements and plan for future, growth and strategic initiatives. Performs cost benefit analyses and feasibility studies on an as needed basis. Oversees overall function of Help Desk including all Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, Desktop Services, and Infrastructure Teams. Responsible for all data center operations   Primary liaison with third party hosting providers.

    Principal Responsibilities

    THE DIRECTOR, IT OPERATIONS:

    1. Assists in setting the technology strategy, project roadmap, and budget, and responsible for subsequent outcomes.
    2. Develops the strategy and prioritization of enhancement for organizational infrastructure and end-user hardware
    3. Manages the execution of IT Operations project portfolio, assuring project success and within budget.
    4. Prepares and presents reports to leadership and staff.
    5. Aligns IT direction organizational short and long-term business goals and objectives.
    6. Identifies the impact of the organization’s vision and strategic direction on technology and establishes IT priorities accordingly.
    7. Analyzes long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions.
    8. Diagnoses and resolves ambiguous problems.
    9. Leads process and service improvement programs.
    10. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

    Reporting Relationships

    1. Reports directly to Vice President, Technology

     

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems or Business with an emphasis in Computer Science.  
    2. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience, possessing expert knowledge, skills and abilities required to resolve the most/highly complex IT issues.
    3. Minimum 5 years leadership experience in an IT environment with strong team building skills.
    4. Ability to integrate deep subject matter expertise with industry experience, knowledge of professional standards, relevant related disciplines and business goals and strategy
    5. Able to direct and control the activities of the function area.
    6. Previous experience working with other senior managers with establishing strategic plans and objectives.
    7. Able to make final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures objectives are achieved.
    8. Able to participate in corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
    9. Demonstrated ability of working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth knowledge of the company.
    10. Past interaction with executives and/or major customers involving negotiation or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
    11. Experience planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending, and implementing change.
    12. Experienced in coaching and mentoring both team members and business partners.
    13. Experience with delivery of superior customer service
    14. Expertise in multiple Microsoft Windows PC and server operating platforms.
    15. Experience with Cisco switches, hubs and routers in a WAN environment
    16. Knowledge of HIPAA and other security standards
    17. Previous healthcare experience a plus

     

    Working Conditions

    1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
