  • Responsibilities

    The Data Analyst will be part of the Patient Safety, Quality and Accreditation team. Responsible for data analytics to support the needs of the Patient Safety and Quality across the organization.   The Data Analyst will work with cross-functional team of stakeholders at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, to help gather insights for quality, operations and outcomes.

     

    The Data Analyst will consistently demonstrate support of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.

     

    The Data Analyst/Informatics Specialist will demonstrate Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Core Attributes: Communication, Accountability, Flexibility/Adaptability, Judgment/Problem Solving, Customer Service and Core Values (Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, & Commitment to Excellence) while fulfilling job duties.

     

    Principal Responsibilities

     

    The Data Analyst:

     

    1. Gathers, profiles, and analyzes data to support requirements analysis and/or analytics.
    2. Collaborates with technical experts and business units to determine the best possible reporting/dash-boarding mechanisms.
    3. Analyzes data and generates reports that ensure data integrity by applying statistical methods.
    4. Performs data manipulation on large sets of data to extract actionable insights.
    5. Combines data from different sources and conducts source to target mapping
    6. Identifies trends and patterns in data and creates data visualizations
    7. Performs complex analysis including statistical regression and forecasting
    8. Drives analytical rigor across the organization to guide decision making
    9. Performs other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering or related field. Masters preferred
    2. Healthcare experience highly desired
    3. Able to use professional concepts and apply company policies/procedures to work on problems/issues of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
    4. Able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
    5. Strong strategic, analytical, technical, and project management skills
    6. Demonstrated ability in engaging and communicating with stakeholders, across both business and technology functions
    7. Experience with data modeling, database tools, and database concepts (e.g. relational databases, Enterprise Data Warehouses, data modeling for research etc.) and continues developing professional expertise. 
    8. SQL scripting experience.  PostgreSQL experience preferred
    9. Experience with the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) application and the REDCap API.
    10. Experience with compiling data sets for statistical analysis
    11. Experience with electronic medical/health record systems (EMRs/EHRs), with preference for Cerner
    12. Data cleaning, engineering, and munging experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python, PERL, Ruby, PHP, Java, R/Shiny, etc., as well as building interfaces using APIs.  Strong preference for Python and/or R experience.
    13. Experience with data visualization and BI tools (e.g. Business Objects, Microsoft PowerBI, Cognos, Tableau, OBIEE, Qlikview, Knowi, etc.).
    14. Experience with statistical software packages and data mining tools (e.g. R, Python, SPSS, Weka, etc.).

     

    Reporting Relationships

     

    Reports directly to the Director, Patient Safety, Quality and Accreditation.

     

     

    Working Conditions

     

    Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
