  • Responsibilities

     

    The Manager, Psychology will be responsible for the management Psychology Department consisting of Psychologists, Patient Family Counselors, Psychometrists, Behavioral Specialists, and other professional staff. The Manager, Psychology oversee the delivery of patient care from admission to discharge.  The Manager is responsible for the direction and evaluation of Psychology services and performance on the units in collaboration with other disciplines to guarantee continuity of quality of care.

    Principal Responsibilities

     

    1. Manages and monitors the staffing and productivity of Psychologyists Patient Family Counselors, Psychometrists and other professional staff who support patients and families.
    2. Recruits, hires and coaches staff to ensure optimal performance and talent match for each program.
    3. Oversees orientation, training and professional growth and development needs of staff.
    4. Conducts performance appraisals for staff with input from the Physician Leadership, Therapy Managers and Nurse Managers.
    5. Participates in the development of operating and capital budgets and manages resources to budget and volume.
    6. Initiates and implements quality improvements in individual, team and organizational performance and facilitate resolution of quality issues.
    7. Assists with the development of clinical protocols and ensures staff understanding and compliance.
    8. Documents patient progress in compliance with at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab standards.
    9. Manages patient family feedback regarding individual psychologists.
    10. Provides policy and practice leadership within the organization.
    11. Manages Practice Council responsibilities and CEU responsibilities for psychologists in conjunction with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Academy.
    12. Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

     

    Reporting Relationships

    1. Reports directly to the Director, Allied Health

     

     

    Working Conditions

    1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

     

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    1. Professional knowledge of practice and supervision at a level acquired through a doctoral degree from an American Psychological Association approved School of Psychology.
    2. Board Certification in Neuropsychology or Rehabilitation Psychology, or Board eligible for Certification in Neuropsychology or Rehabilitation Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology preferred.
    3. Current Illinois license to practice as a licensed Psychologist.
    4. At least 5 years progressively responsible related clinical work experience (rehabilitation experience preferred) including supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    5. Superior interpersonal skills necessary to provide leadership and communicate effectively with patients, families, and all levels of staff within the organization.
    6. Strong analytical skills required to assess, plan and implement strategies for successful unit management.
