    General Summary

    Under general direction, the Benefits Analyst will assist the Human Resources Department with a variety of support services related to the health and retirement plans offered to employees by SRAlab. The Benefits Analyst will primarily support the employee benefits function and the HRIS, but is also expected to perform diversified support to all areas of the Human Resources Department

    The Analyst will consistently demonstrate support of the SRAlab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.

    The Analyst will demonstrate SRAlab Core Attributes: Communication, Accountability, Flexibility/Adaptability, Judgment/Problem Solving, Customer Service and SRAlab Values (Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, & Commitment to Excellence) while fulfilling job duties.

    Principal Benefit Area Responsibilities

    1. Maintain and update employee benefits information in HRIS. Work towards streamlining processes, eliminating non-value added steps. Serve as a benefits data expert.
    2. Approve employee benefits status and data changes as necessary. Complete employee benefits off-boarding tasks.
    3. In conjunction with Benefits Manager, process benefit plan enrollment changes, entering data in HRIS and on carrier and vendor websites. Review weekly carrier connection files and address discrepancies. Process changes in other pay deductions.
    4. Ensure new hire benefit enrollments are complete and timely, and follow up with employees as needed. Support Open Enrollment periods.
    5. Survey market data in order to determine company’s competitive position in employee benefits.
    6. Assist in planning, developing, and redesigning company benefits programs and analyzing benefit costs.
    7. Provide support to the employee benefit function by answering routine questions from employees and managers, accessing employee records as necessary to answer inquiries and resolve problems.
    8. Collaborate with payroll to insure benefit deductions are timely and accurate.
    9. Examine and verify accuracy of employee records on an ongoing basis, including but not limited to health and retirement benefit plan enrollments and pay deductions.
    10. Develop custom reports to meet the requirements of management and HR staff.
    11. Maintain data integrity in systems by performing regular audits.
    12. Prepare and maintain logs, records and reports as needed including annual census and ACA reports. Assist with ensuring company compliance with federal and state laws.  
    13. Assist with ad hoc benefit process and reports as requested.
    14. Participate in quality assurance testing of new software and software updates.
    15. Maintains benefits communication documents including benefits booklets and employee self-service portal information.
    16. Provide administrative support to the HR team when needed.

    HR Department Support Responsibilities

     

    1. Responds to employee questions and concerns as needed. Exercises knowledge of HR policies and procedures to help resolve employee concerns and questions either directly or by referring the individual to the appropriate HR contact.
    2. Assist with Performance Management process and have understanding of basic functionality of the performance management system.
    3. Participates in the New Employee Orientation process, facilitating, helping to organize, etc.  
    4. Participates in HR related projects and initiatives as the need arises, i.e. performance management, employee events, etc.
    5. Assist with compliance audits as appropriate.
    6. Provides input to various human resource programs and practices to determine their value-added contributions for enhancing the mission, assets and the business of SRALAB for its patients and patient families.
    7. Makes effective and timely decisions within range of authority, even when data is limited or solutions produce unpleasant personal or interpersonal consequences. Escalates and/or seeks advice when appropriate.
    8. Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

    Reporting Relationships

    1. Reports directly to Director, Total Rewards

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

    1. Education level appropriate with what is normally gained through completion of Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, IT or related field.
    2. 1-3 years’ experience maintaining Human Resources Information Systems.
    3. Experience with ADP WorkforceNow and Enterprise preferred.
    4. Experience with benefit vendor portals, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Guardian. & One America preferred.
    5. 1-3 years of progressive experience in health and retirement plan administration.
    6. Demonstrated excellence in communication, interpersonal skills, and diplomacy with all levels of staff members including management.
    7. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the HR / Benefits area to include knowledge of 5500s, plan reporting, annual testing, etc.
    8. Ability to produce accurate and timely work.
    9. Strong customer service skills.
    10. Advanced Excel skills.
    11. Ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize work and assigned projects.
    12. Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills necessary to efficiently prioritize and complete a wide variety of tasks.
    13. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting and to partner with other functional areas such as IS and Payroll.
    14. Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner.
    15. Must adjust rapidly to new situations warranting attention and resolution.
    16. Demonstrates good judgment in identifying situations requiring negotiations and problem solving.
    17. Must possess excellent analytical and planning skills.
    18. Demonstrates effective presentation and facilitation skills.

    Working Conditions

    1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
