  • Responsibilities

    Administratively responsible to the Health Services Manager or Health Services Supervisor, the Licensed Practical Nurse attends to the nursing needs of ICF/ID residents. In conjunction with the Shift Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor, the Licensed Practical Nurse attends to the daily living program needs of the residents. A minimum of 60% of worktime is spent in direct resident contact. 

    EDUCATION:

     

    Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program required.

     

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

     

    Nursing experience preferred. Experience working with mentally handicapped individuals preferred.

    SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Possession of a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners required. CPR certification must be obtained and maintained.

    Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check.

    Must pass post job offer, pre-placement physical exam; and initial and subsequent annual TB screenings.

    Valid PA driver's license required for travel to fulfill responsibilities, i.e., resident programming, transport, and appointments. Must successfully complete Allied’s Driver Training Program, as stated by policy #2.43.

    Must demonstrate good administrative ability. Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff, residents, visitors and external agencies. Knowledge of counseling skills and behavioral intervention techniques required.

    Observes and monitors the condition of residents, acutely ill, severely disturbed, etc. Implements nursing care plans, applies the required nursing techniques, and carries out proper procedures. 

    Requisitions medicine, pours and dispenses medications, and maintains an accurate drug record. 

    Provides physical assistance in resident transfers to and from beds, bathroom facilities, company vehicles, etc., when necessary. Assists and supports residents with ambulation or gait difficulties. 

    Implements individual behavior programs under the direction of the Psychology Department and Interdisciplinary Team. This may involve crisis intervention with aggressive residents or protecting residents from themselves or other aggressive residents. 

    Operates various clinical apparatus and instructs other residential personnel on same when necessary. Regularly examines clinical apparatus for proper functioning. 

    Implements specified developmental and individual health-related resident programs. 

    Assists in keeping accurate and timely records in accordance with ICF/ID regulations for each resident’s individual program plan, and data collection sheets for each priority need established by the Interdisciplinary Team. 

    Provides individual support, instruction, and direction for residents as the situations warrant. 

    Performs quarterly body audits on all residents and documents same. 

    Monitors residents’ vital signs on a monthly basis and/or more frequently as ordered by physicians. 

    Drives agency vehicles as assigned by supervisory personnel. 

    Adheres to established company/program policies, practices, procedures, and regulations related to safety and infection control.

    The successful candidate will be required to have the experience and skills to complete the below tasks:

    • Operate and maintain the network management and information architecture.
    • Migrate users from the legacy networks.
    • Maintain systems on-site in accordance with the original equipment manufacturers (OEM) recommended engineering and maintenance practices.
    • Perform preventive maintenance, during non-core hours on the system including scheduled preventive maintenance such as periodic tests, inspections, and all other preventive maintenance services/practices recommended by the OEM and as specified SOPs.
    • Perform maintenance after notification that equipment is inoperative and or malfunctioning.
    • Provide service personnel trained and certified by the respective OEMs sufficient to ensure system performance and compliance with the maintenance requirements.
    • Ensure all equipment is maintained in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines, SOPs.
