    Pre-Registration Representative Department: Patient Access Services Schedule: Full Time Shift: Days Hours: M-F 8:30 am to 5 pm Job Details:

    • The Representative is responsible for the pre-admission and pre-registration of all patients into the hospital in a respectful and courteous manner. This position ensures reimbursement for services rendered through verification of insurance eligibility/benefits, obtaining insurance authorization within required time frame, identification and collection of patient financial obligation . He/She is responsible for interviewing and gathering complete and accurate data to complete the admission/registration process accurately, efficiently and expeditiously. The Representative is responsible for verifying all benefits, obtaining precertification and notifying patients of financial responsibility. Major Duties: Meets organizational expectations as defined by the Employee Standards of Performance, hospital and department policies and procedures, and the hospital's strategic goals. Verbalizes a clear understanding of continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction measures and actively participates in improvement initiatives. Accurately completes demographic data, financial data and medical information data collection. Pre-admit and/or pre-register patients for scheduled services. Verifies benefits on patients. Obtains precertification on workman's comp, and obtains pre-certification number on all managed care if necessary. Identifying and notifying patient financial obligation amounts, i.e. co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles, etc. Determining estimated cost of services being rendered. Collecting accident information. Responds to and resolves verbal and written inquiries. Recognizes, identifies and resolves problems and issues that arise without direct supervision. Assumes responsibility and accountability for skills, performance and behavior in accordance with hospital and registration policy and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Education/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Required: Typing and computer skills. Good organizational skills. Good customer relation skills. Good communication/phone skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality in daily operations. Ability to conduct duties in a professional manner. Associates degree or high school diploma. A minimum of 1 year medical experience. Preferred: A minimum of 3 years medical experience preferably in Patient Access or Business Office. CPAT
