COMPUTER TECHNICIAN Send This Job to a Friend Category Professional Facility SGMC Main Campus Department INFORMATION SERVICES Schedule Full-Time Shift Evenings/Nights Hours 80 Job Details POSITION SUMMARY * Responsible for the operation and monitoring of the Hospital Information Computer System. * Maintains, initialize, backup, journals and process information according to operating instructions. * Performs daily, nightly, weekly and monthly computer runs. * Respond to messages, errors and halts on the system and take corrective action(s). * Must be proficient in determining which commands to process into the system according to pre-determined instructions in the operations manual or from a very reliable source. * Performs appropriate computer products distributions tasks. * Performs routine tasks to maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware and peripherals, independent of direct supervision. * Loads peripherals equipment such as tapes and printer paper for operating runs. * Performs help desk support functions. * Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. * Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. * Performs a variety of complicated tasks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1. Associate degree in a health care profession, computer science, management information system, or other related degree is preferred or a vocational technical school training on computers. 2. At least 2 to 3 years work experience as a computer tech preferred. 3. Must be a self motivated, detailed, deadline and service oriented individual that can accurately set priorities. 4. Must possess written and verbal communication skills, problem solving, organizational and technical skills. 5. Ability to identify and isolate problems and suggest suitable options for improvements. 6. Ability to perform maintenance and repair of computer related equipment.
