South Shore Mental Health's Discovery Day Treatment was recognized by the Association for Behavioral Healthcare (ABH) with an excellence in Best Practice award! This program is a psychiatric recovery and rehabilitation program which serves clients who are experiencing major mental illness or acute life crisis. The Intern at the Discovery Day Treatment Program is part of a multi-disciplinary team which provides quality clinical care to consumers with serious and persistent mental illnesses and/or who are suffering serious disturbances in life functioning due to a psychiatric problem. This program serves as a treatment step up or step down or maintenance program for clients. The program philosophy is that staff clinicians will help consumers by educating them about their symptoms and aid them in developing better coping skills through the use of group therapy in a structured, scheduled day, and by the development of a goal oriented treatment plan. Clinical groups include, but are not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, wellness recovery action plan, and expressive therapy. Discovery also embraces a whole health perspective on recovery and includes yoga, wellness, and nutrition as part of the treatment schedule. Treatment is conducted in a setting which is safe, respectful, and empathetic to consumer needs. Required Skills Proficiency in computer technology required Excellent organizational skills Success in working within a team environment Required Experience Must be enrolled in a Master's Degree program in Social Work, Counseling Psychology or related field.
