    The Interventional Oncology organization within Johnson & Johnson, is recruiting for a Research & Development Engineer Co-op, located in Cincinnati, OH.

    At Johnson & Johnson (J&J), we are working to create a world without disease. Interventional Oncology (INTO) is a cross-sector R&D organization working within J&J, charged by the Executive Committee with meaningfully altering the course of lung and adjacent cancers and improving survival by preventing, intercepting, and treating lung cancer and other solid tumor types.

    As a Research & Development Co-op in Interventional Oncology, you'll help support the development of innovative drug delivery devices and enabling technologies designed to bring advanced cancer therapies directly to where they are needed most. Our team creates systems that support minimally invasive procedures and helps clinicians safely and effectively deliver novel treatments, including technologies that enable and support clinical trials for next-generation cancer therapies. You'll work alongside engineers, scientists, clinicians, and other experts to solve real-world challenges through hands-on design, prototyping, testing, and data analysis. This role offers a unique opportunity to see how engineering innovation, medical devices, and pharmaceutical development come together to advance the future of cancer treatment and improve patient outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    The role will have split time supporting the device design team across 1-2 clinical trial/device development teams. Once a candidate is identified, they will work with their manager to select projects that match their development interests with the team's needs. Projects may involve any of the following:

    • Perform various tasks in support of the product design process including:
      • Device design, device builds, laboratory testing, test method development, interpreting data results, design verification and/or design validation.
      • Contribute to design solution activity through utilization of previously learned skills with CAD tools, simulation tools, fundamental engineering principles, and experienced mentorship from seasoned Team Engineers.
      • Use state of the art tools, testing equipment.
      • Deliver oral and written presentations.
      • Support engineers by authoring, organizing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation for product development activities.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Working towards a bachelor's degree (BE/BS) in a technical field (engineering or design) is required. Working towards a master's degree (MEng, MS) degree is preferred.

    Experience and Skills:

    Required:

    • Experience in teamwork, collaboration, inclusion, and developing relationships to facilitate project work.
    • Experience in prioritizing tasks, balancing several projects at a time, and working efficiently.

    Preferred:

    • Previous experience in product development and testing.
    • Experience using CAD software (e.g., Solidworks).
    • Experience using statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).
    • Problem-solving skills for developing creative solutions.
    • The ability to present and communicate complex information, customer insights, and scenario and risk analyses to project teams.
