Your day ** ** As aPhysical Therapist you need to know how to: · Conduct physical therapy evaluations, programplanning, and treatments for hospital inpatients and outpatients. · Participate in patient education, departmentbudget and equipment planning, program development and department charting,charging, and scheduling activities. · Work independently with limitedsupervision. · Interprets physicians' referrals for physicaltherapy services and selects the appropriate diagnostic or prognosticprocedures for evaluating patients' disabilities such as muscle weakness, jointlimitation, loss of functional ability and sensory deficiency from muscle,nerve, joint and bone diseases and injuries or birth defects. · Perform evaluation procedures and analyzes theresults to determine the extent of patients' disabilities, establish patientgoals, assess functional progress, and to develop and adjust initial andsubsequent treatment programs. · Conduct tests of strength, upright motorcontrol, spasticity, sensation, proprioception, visual field, bulbar functions,cognition, gait analysis, body image, electro-diagnostic, and other tests. · Perform complex treatments such asproprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, muscle re-education, bulbartreatment and use of plaster splints for positioning a body member. · Confer with physicians regarding evaluation,treatment and progress of patients and expresses judgments upon whichphysicians base decisions to improve the patient's function using a widevariety of surgical or bracing procedures. · Advise allied health personnel, teachers andfamilies regarding patients' progress and discharge plans. Participates on aninterdisciplinary team and reports on assigned patients condition andprogress. · Your experience · We hire people, not resumes. But we also expectexcellence, which is why we require: · Graduation from an accredited program inphysical therapy · Knowledge and theory of physical therapypractice as necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial,educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of thepatients served in his/her assigned service area · Active license to practice physical therapy inthe State of Colorado or a temporary license or permit to practice physicaltherapy in the State of Colorado · BLS certification required (CPR) · LANA-CLT certified lymphedema therapist,preferred. · Ability to interact with people of all ages;therefore, the employee must have communications skills appropriate for peopleof all ages.
