As a Certified MA, you need to know how to: Promote mission, vision and values of SCL Health Actively fulfill Best in the Nation goals Introduce and greet patient in a prompt and pleasant manner Record reasons for patient visit and anticipates healthcare providers needs appropriately in EHR Prepare exam room and procedure rooms with necessary supplies and equipment Assist healthcare provider with examination, procedures and treatments Assess patient barriers to learning Obtain vital signs, identify fall risks and reassures that patient is safe and comfortable Perform clinical skills competently that may include: giving injections, obtaining specimens, venipuncture, blood pressure, Non-Stress Tests, EKG (including explaining and preparing patient), respiratory treatments, vision and hearing exams, pulse oximetry, and other skills as specified by site or clinic Triage telephone calls and prescription refill requests according to protocol, determines if emergency or routine and processes as per clinic protocol Respond to emergency activity within the office according to protocol Schedule diagnostics tests, treatments and acute office appointments Comply with environment of care, patient safety and infection control procedures as established within the clinic and by the hospital Communicate with providers and other staff members by expressing verbal and written thoughts clearly and concisely Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served May instruct patients in the use of a home glucometer based on clinic assignment May fill liquid nitrogen according to policy and training, based on clinic assignment Maintain patient files, records and other information Maintain patient confidentiality Your experience. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require: High school diploma or equivalent, required Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assisting, required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within one (1) month of employment At least two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience, preferred Medical Assistant Certification, required Experience working with and sensitivity toward special populations, including those with limited income, limited education, and non-English speaking individuals, required Your next move.
