    Job Description:

    We are searching for the best talent to join our MedTech Surgery team Staff Engineer for our Biosurgery Platform, located in Raritan, NJ

    Purpose: The Staff Engineer, Biosurgery will serve as a key technical contributor in our new product development team. Our team of scientists, engineers, and technical specialists are in the forefront of technology in the medical device industry. As a key member of this group, you will be making vital contributions to the New Product Development (NPD) pipeline and improving patient care through innovation. This role provides an opportunity to develop exciting new biosurgery products to market.

    In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

    • Leads formulation design efforts from concept through to prototyping phases, Design Reviews and Validation
    • Collaborate with external suppliers and internal partners to develop products
    • Drive product characterization to ensure rigorous technical understanding and relationships to pre-clinical/clinical outcomes
    • Lead raw material suppliers through raw material iterations, correlating to product design window
    • Drive execution of Learning Plans
    • Participate in multi-functional discussions and design reviews, including product creation at multiple scales (modeling, lab, pilot and manufacturing)
    • Participate in clinical procedures and activities, translating learning into viable prototypes

    Education and Required Experience:

    • Minimum Bachelor's degree ; advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, strongly preferred
    • Successful experiences in launching new products & formulations to market
    • Working knowledge of basic statistics
    • Minimum of (6) years of industry experience

    Preferred Skills & Experiences:

    • Experience in biomaterials and material development
    • Experience in Medical Device product design industry
    • Experience in combination products
    • Experience with respect to PMA
    • Proven problem-solving skills using analytical technologies
    • Experience Design of Experiments (DOE)
    • Experience in developing protocols and writing completion reports
    • Experience developing combination (drug/device) medical devices products
    • Experience in vitro and ex vivo methods for characterizing prototypes and products
    • Experience in developing and validating biochemical test methods for finished products and raw materials
    • Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver project outcomes in an ambiguous environment
    • Requires experience managing self-directed work teams

    Other:

    • This position is based in Raritan, NJ and requires up to 20% travel

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is [$125,500] to [$170,000]

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
