    JOB SUMMARY:

    Implements and documents specific treatment programs for patients of varied ages and disabilities, according to the principles and practices of physical therapy in collaboration with the healthcare team.

     

    MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    1. TREATMENT – Performs treatment as outlined in the initial evaluation or as directed by the supervising therapist. Regularly communicates results of treatment, reports changes in the patient's condition and reviews discharge plans with the supervising therapist.  Demonstrates thorough knowledge of treatment techniques and applies appropriately.  Treatment should include patient and family education and communication/interaction with appropriate team members.

    2. DOCUMENTATION – Clinical documentation is timely, objective and complete. Administrative documentation including, but not limited to, billing and outcome measures is accurate and timely.

    3. EDUCATION – Assumes personal responsibility for continuing education and provides education to therapy staff, system employees, and community.

    4. SUPERVISION – Supervises the patient care activities of aides and volunteers.  Delegates routine care to supportive personnel as appropriate.  May supervise students.

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Graduate of an accredited curriculum with a minimum of an Associate of Science Degree in Physical Therapy.  Candidate will be registered with the Connecticut APTA.  New graduate will be considered.

     

    PATIENT POPULATION SERVED:

     Neonate to Geriatric

     

    MANUAL SKILLS:

     

    Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity.                                                               

     

    PHYSICAL EFFORT:

     

    Significant portions of daily assignments involve prolonged standing , transporting equipment, patients, or lifting, moving, or carrying heavy (over 30 pounds) for intermittent periods throughout the day.

     

     

    PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

     

    Some portions of daily assignments involve exposure to human waste, body fluids, and similar elements.  Some portions of daily assignments involve occupational risk such as back injury sustained while assisting with moving, lifting or positioning patients.

     

    Required Experience:

    COMPETENCIES & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS (e.g.license, registration, certification) Minimum 5 years experience as Administrative Assistant, preferably in hospital administrative setting.  Must be proficient in Microsoft office including Word, Excel and Power Point.  Prior experience in insurance verification a plus.  Good written & oral communications skills.  Able to prioritize work assignments on a daily basis, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork to accomplish priority tasks

     

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Two years of college or 2 years prior equivalent experience in a health care setting.
