    PA/APRN ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY JOB DESCRIPTION

    Stamford Hospital is a dynamic, non-profit, community academic hospital located in beautiful Stamford, Connecticut (30 minutes north of New York City). We are a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and part of Stamford Health Medical Group with more than 40 offices in lower Fairfield County. WE ARE ACTIVELY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR EXPERIENCED PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA) OR NURSE PRACTIONER (APRN) FOR THE ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY SERVICE LINE.

    The Electrophysiology team is expanding to cover the inpatient care units with a qualified PA/APRN. This PA/APRN will work under the Director of Electrophysiology, along with the cardiology department  and be primarily in the procedural and inpatient setting. The position is hospital based and will be responsible to cover primarily electrophysiology and some general cardiology patients.

    This role is a Monday – Friday, no weekends, call or holidays

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    1. Perform in patient EP consultations in conjunction with attending physician
    2. Round on established patients as well as post-op patients
    3. Oversee and coordinate cases for Watchman Patients
    4. Patient education
    5. Aids in maintaining communication with referring and collaborating physicians in the hospital and outpatient setting
    6. Performs inpatient, emergency room, MRI, and perioperative device interrogations
    7. Assists in research efforts of the division, including patient education, screening and enrolling study patients and database maintenance.
    8. Attends scheduled staff meetings, in service education opportunities and participates in continuing education programs. Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with employees and other managers of the health care team.
    9. Respects and protects the patient’s rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for the professional purposes which are in the patient’s best interests with full consideration of their legal rights. Displays a positive attitude when interacting with physician’s office staff, physicians and fellow employees of the office.
    10. Participates in and supports performance improvement and risk management activities
    11. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in order to maintain a high level of service. Completes required continuous training and education, including practice specific requirements. Demonstrates professional work behavior by following Service Standards. Complies with departmental organizational policies and procedures and adheres to external agency requirements

    Required Skills Required Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    • NURSE PRACTITIONERS ARE REGISTERED NURSES WITH SPECIALIZED ADVANCED EDUCATION AND CLINICAL COMPETENCY TO PROVIDE HEALTH AND MEDICAL CARE FOR DIVERSE POPULATIONS
    • Master’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing
    • Valid license as APRN in CT
    • Maintains continuing education credits and license renewal as defined by ANCC credentialing
    • Current Connecticut State Licensed Physician Assistant ; National Certification Highly Preferred
    • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
    • Proficiency in all procedures, techniques and skills approved in the delineation of privileges
    • Excellent customer service / communication skills.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ previous experience in a similar position.
    • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
