Mental Health Tech I: Under the direction of the Director of Residential Services, supervises, directs and guides the activities and services of direct care and ancillary program staff in the implementation of care and treatment programs for intellectually disabled individuals served by Mabley Developmental Center. Assign, directs, supervises staff in the implementation of treatment and habilitation plans including completion of assigned tasks such as quality assurance checks, data collection, analysis, implementation of department of public health regulations and all other applicable rules and regulations; provides direction and guidance with regards to behavioral problems. Implements, directs, supervises and monitors disciplinary action for the residential department. Directs and supervises Residential Services supervisory staff at the center. Develops and implements policy that impacts services at Mabley center. Verifies compliance with all applicable Public Health and other regulatory agency policies, standards and regulations. Mental Health Technician II: Under direct supervision, performs duties in a living or work area for the care, treatment or habilitation and development of individuals with intellectual disabilities; provides and/or monitors personal care services for individuals such as bathing, toileting, feeding and food preparation and dressing; carries out a portion of activity therapy programs by teaching and engaging individuals in planned educational, vocational, recreational, and social activities. Participates and provides support in the on-the-job training of less experienced Mental Health Technicians. Utilizes sign language in the performance of all duties involving direct contact with individuals who require such. Minimum Requirements Trainee: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school. Requires successful completion of a comprehensive training program at the Mental health Technician Trainee Level. Requires elementary knowledge of Human Services rules and established individual care and treatment programs. Requires skill and ability to provide basic personal and nursing cares services for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities. Requires moderate to heavy physical effort to lift individuals. Requires ability to communicate via manual sign language communication at a colloquial skill level. Mental Health Technician I: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to (1) a master's degree in administration, education or the behavioral sciences and successful completion of comprehensive training program at the Mental Health Administrator Trainee level, or (2) three years progressively responsible professional experience in or applicable to the provision of therapeutic patient services for the mentally ill or intellectual disabilities, or (3) three years progressively responsible supervisory experience in, or applicable to the care, treatment and development of persons with mentally illness or intellectual disabilities. Requires the ability to communicate oral and written instructions to subordinate staff. Requires the ability to participate in application of restraint procedures and must be able to make rounds, attend off site training, and meetings.
