    Monday - Friday Day shift

    The Stroke Coordinator oversees and facilitates the work of the stroke program. They are engaged in data collection and chart abstraction of stroke measures, data analysis and reporting of program performance and goals, facilitation of the Stroke Committee, and providing real-time and planned education for staff, practitioners, community partners such as EMS, and the public. The Stroke Coordinator collaborates with VCUHS Stroke team, medical staff, bedside and ancillary department staff to improve program performance and patient outcomes. The Stroke Coordinator leads the stroke program in partnership with Stroke Medical Director, organizational leadership, VCUHS, and community partners. The Stroke Coordinator works closely with bedside staff and leadership to assure that patients receive evidence-based care and that the organization meets regulatory requirements for program certification. Reports to the Director of Quality and Risk and participates in Quality Department education and training. In addition, the Stroke Coordinator works closely with Data Analysts, and Risk and Regulatory Readiness staff to assure that all governmental and regulatory requirements are met.

    Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
    Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state

    Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
    Current RN licensure in Virginia
    AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

    Experience REQUIRED:
    Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience with specific experience in the following areas:
    Clinical Data Analytics
    Clinical Process Improvement
    Clinical Diagnostic and Interventional treatment
    Facilitating and/or leading interdisciplinary groups;
    Leadership (formal or informal) in a healthcare setting; and
    Developing and making presentations.
    Previous experience using a personal computer and software application to include the Internet, e-mail, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and graphics.

    Experience PREFERRED:
    Previous experience working on a performance improvement project within a hospital department with physicians.
    Previous experience applying and explaining statistical process control tools; conducting group facilitation/presentation; and designing data collection tools.
    Previous experience using mapping/flowcharting software and working with databases (e.g. Access)
    Previous experience with performance improvement processes and tools.
    Previous experience collecting, organizing and analyzing data.

    Education/training REQUIRED:
    Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state’s Board of Nursing.

    Education/training PREFERRED:
    Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
