The R&D Internship program provides each student with a phenomenal support system, as well as the chance to meet people from various schools throughout the country. The Intern will be assigned to a single function with a specific project.
The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platforms, and technologies - including sutures, surgical staplers, sophisticated energy, robotic surgery, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures.
In the Toxicology team the student will have the opportunity to focus on Toxicological Risk Assessments. Learn the importance and of hazard assessments and literature searcher. During the summer of 2020, we will have a special need to work on packaging materials and build on a chemical database.
We will offer mentorship and hands on learning opportunities.
Qualifications
The best candidate should meet the following criteria:
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g. H1-B status)
A minimum GPA of 3.0 Cumulative is strongly preferred
Must be actively enrolled pursuing a Bachelor or Master's degree
Basic proficiency with the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required
Able to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills, excellent communication and presentation skills and leadership qualities are required.
Must be a self-starter with ability to work independently within a matrix environment
Candidate must be able to work full time (40 hours per week) during the duration of the co-op position.
For the Tox/Biocomp department, the preferred major is Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular, Chemistry, etc.)
