    Description

    Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting a current Ph.D. student for a 12-week summer research internship on the Cheminformatics team within the Therapeutics Discovery organization. In this position, the intern will work on evaluating and improving computational methods for peptide drug design and optimization. The position is located in Cambridge, MA.

    The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and technically skilled individual with a strong background in computational chemistry or cheminformatics. This internship presents a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with In silico peptide modeling tools, while learning from a hard-working cross-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers. Your work will be crucial to building, evaluating, and applying new tools to the pipeline for this emerging therapeutic modality.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in Chemistry, Biophysics, Computational Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in python for data analysis and visualization
    • Solid understanding of organic chemistry and structural biology
    • Experience with molecular modeling software such as Rosetta, AMBER, GROMACS, CHARMM, Schrodinger, or similar
    • Strong oral and written communication skills

    Preferred:

    • Experience with python libraries including Jupyter, RDKit, Pandas, and Scikit-learn.
    • Experience with ML-based molecular modeling methods such as AlphaFold, RFDiffusion, ProteinMPNN, or similar.
    • Documented track record of publications and/or contributions to open-source tools (e.g. GitHub repositories).
    • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
