Quality Control Technician I SunOpta 46 reviews - Edwardsville, KS FLSA Status (US): Non-Exempt Department: Quality Assurance Reports To: Quality Technologist Summary: This position is responsible to assure the highest company quality standards are met and maintained by monitoring product quality on a food production line, are ensuring critical control point (CCP) is operational, and understanding and meeting customer specifications. Meet or exceed manufacturing schedules by maintaining proper quality checks are performed in a timely and correct manner, assist the line machine operators with quality questions/concerns, and keeping in-line with customer demands. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Monitor specifications of product being run to ensure accuracy * Perform required checks of CCP to certify its performance * Perform sensory evaluation of product to ensure quality * Ensure packaging meets production coding requirements * Accurate and timely record of data * Timely communication to the appropriate members of staff when issues arise * Effective operation of computer, keyboard, and mouse * Effectively communicate with members of staff at all levels in a professional manner * Actively participate in company safety meetings and be a proponent of employee safety * Follow all GMPs and all other company quality and food safety programs as they relate to the quality department * All other duties as assigned Competencies: * Attention to detail * Communication skills * Discretion * Initiative * Decision-making Position Type: This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday-Thursday: 4:45 a.m.?3:00 p.m. and Friday: as needed, subject to business necessity. This position is subject to overtime, as required by business necessity. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities Travel Requirements: This position will require minimal travel, if any Education and Experience: * High school diploma or G.E.D. and completion of at least 6 months experience in a quality role at a production facility, food experience preferred Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Work Environment and Physical Demands: Approximately 90% of work is performed in a refrigerated or sub-zero environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, feeling, fingering, and climbing during the entirety of shift. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 lbs. Vision abilities require close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus with or without corrective lenses. Sense of smell and taste abilities are required.
