offers comprehensive child development and family support services to
low-income and underserved populations including expecting mothers,
infants, toddlers and their families. In center-based as well as
home-based settings we promote infant and toddler health & development,
foster positive family relationships and supports parents as the primary
decision makers and nurturers of their children. Tools and learning
strategies are employed to enable the children to enter school ready to
succeed. Early Childhood Coach : Brief Position Description: : The Early
Childhood Coach assists supports and updates classroom procedures and
techniques for specified instructional and school readiness outcomes;
curriculum implementation; individualized child assessment; and
cultural/linguistic responsiveness. The Coach will provide technical
assistance to identified teaching staff and Site Supervisors as needed.
The Early childhood coach must also be willing and capable of learning
and supporting classroom teachers to implement the practices and
standards of instruments such as the Environmental Rating Scales, the
Teachers Learning and Collaborating model, Teaching Strategies Gold
assessment, and the Practice Based Coaching approach. Essential Job
Responsibilities (including but not limited to): : * PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
- Monitors the implementation of a developmentally and linguistically
appropriate approach to child development and education * Facilitates
and coordinates meetings and trainings as assigned or in coordination
with the EHS Early Childhood Education (ECE) Manager * Interprets and
applies written program policies, procedures, rules, and regulations *
Completes monthly monitoring reports for assigned sites and submits them
as prescribed * Submits written, monthly work activities and reports to
immediate supervisor * Develops and maintains schedules for on-site
visitations * Meets regularly with immediate supervisor and attends all
meeting and training sessions as requested * Maintains strict
confidentiality for EHS children, families and staff in accordance with
established policies and procedures * Assists and supports staff to
create and maintain a healthy and safe learning environment that is
developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive and
experientially-based * Assist and supports staff in implementing
transition activities including registration, classroom transitions and
preschool transition * Collaborates with program staff to increase
resources, accomplish tasks, resolve conflict and support the overall
program * INFANT/TODDLER PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION : In collaboration with
the EHS ECE Manager and field staff, the mentor/coach assists in the
developing and evaluating the project and program goals and objectives
monitors and assists teachers in the implementation of a developmentally
and linguistically appropriate approach to child development and
education by providing support in the following ways: * Supports and
assists teachers to implement a developmentally appropriate and
culturally sensitive program that supports the childs social, emotional,
cognitive and physical development * Supports and assists staff to
increase knowledge of safety issues relating to infant/toddlers;
Organizes and maintains a healthy, safe, clean environment that ensures
comfortable and scaffolding experiences that meet the changing needs of
infants and toddlers * Supports and assists teachers to develop an
environment that reflects the home culture of the families being served
with the goal of increased understanding of their own culture and the
culture of others * Helps to support positive guidance and discipline
techniques that foster an atmosphere of acceptance that supports
positive self-esteem. * Comprehends principles of infant/toddler
development and applies this knowledge with teachers, infants and
toddlers to enhance classroom teaching practices * Responsible for
participating in and conducting on-going infant/toddler training and
professional growth activities * Promotes partnerships with families by
working closely with colleagues and the family services staff *
Maintains a professional attitude and cooperates with colleagues and
administration * Understands and assists teachers to carry out the HS
Performance Standards, Standards of Conduct, Licensing and State
regulations as well as SCFs Policies and Procedures * Promotes and
supports the SCFs mission, standards and philosophy in the EHS
community, with program partners and with the greater community *
Follows and is aware of authorized emergency and safety procedures and
regulations concerning occupational disease, injury, prevention of
contamination and other universal precautions to be able to guide
teachers when needed * Assists and advances teachers with child
observation, individualization, lesson planning, procedures for
attendance, lunch count, parent participation, in-kind contributions,
and others tasks as directed * RECORD KEEPING * Completes required
reports, records and documents in a timely fashion * Maintains and
utilizes data from screening, assessment, and observation for program
planning to assist teachers in creating child and classroom goals *
Assists in maintaining inventory by identifying and documenting
material, equipment and resources needed for individual sites * Prepares
and maintains legible, accurate records * Maintains the appropriate
paper and electronic files * Follows SCF-EHS program and fiscal
record-keeping regulations * Can operate a camera and or video recorder
to document teacher interactions * Maintains and assists teaching staff
in developing and attaining individual professional development goals as
needed * Assists in creating systems and written procedures that promote
consistency program wide * PARENT INVOLVEMENT AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS *
Professionally promotes SCF-EHS in the community * Builds and maintains
strong working relationships with community partners such as QRIS
coaches and licensing, SNHD and others as set forth Physical
Requirements & Working Conditions : : * Must be able to lift up to 50
pounds including infant and/or toddlers weighing 6 to 50 pounds multiple
times throughout the day * Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching
to maintain direct eye contact with infant/toddlers * Sitting on the
floor and/or in preschool chairs * Dexterity of hands and fingers to
manipulate specialized apparatus and standard office and classroom
equipment * Seeing to read a variety of materials (printed or virtual)
and monitor student activities * Must be able to hear and speak to
exchange information in face to face conversation; virtual meeting space
or via telephone * Tolerate some exposure to bodily fluids and
communicable diseases * Tolerate moderate to loud noise level * Must be
able to drive a vehicle to conduct work at multiple locates as needed *
Some travel by car, bus, airplane or train may be required as associated
with attendance at conferences, meeting and other duties carried out at
distant locations in and out of state and in some cases overnight travel
may be required. Job Requirements: : * Requirements: * Must have a
minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or Early
Childhood Development * At minimum of 1 year or more experience with
infants/toddlers in a group setting is required * Must be approved by
SCF insurer to be added to corporate auto insurance policy * Must have a
valid Drivers License and maintain throughout the duration of employment
- Must consistently demonstrates mature judgment and the emotional,
mental, knowledgeable, constructive and responsive characteristics
necessary to carry out a program which places emphasis on the
development of young children * Must use SCF-EHS policy, Early Head
Start Performance Standards, NAEYC code of ethics, Creative Curriculum
for Infants, Toddlers and Two, Teaching Strategies Gold and other
appropriate and approved resources for making professional decisions *
Must have the ability to use a computer to collect, record, retrieve
data and prepare reports * Ability to analyze problems, identify
alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and
implement recommendations in support of goals * Must have the ability to
evaluate work methods, results and provide feedback * Ability to read,
analyze, understand, and interpret policies and other necessary
materials in required * Must be able to communicate clearly and using
correct grammar both verbally and in writing using English * Must be
organized, display strong time management abilities and demonstrate an
attention to detail to effectively meet client and program needs * Must
have the ability to gather and interpret moderately complex information
- Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide * Ability
to exhibit patience and tact when communicating with children, families,
staff, and supervisor is a requirement * Ability to project
professionalism in appearance, interactions and conduct throughout daily
activities is a must * Listen intently and ask questions to ensure full
understanding * Must be available to work a flexible schedule in order
to fulfill job functions and program responsibilities * Must interact
sensitively, effectively and professionally with persons from diverse
cultural, economic, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds, and
persons of all ages and lifestyle preferences especially parents of
children in SCFs programs. * Must maintain a positive, open an objective
attitude towards others * Must acquire CPR/First Aid Training for
Infant/Child/Adult within ninety (90) days of hire date and maintain
through duration of employment * Must obtain a Las Vegas Metropolitan
Police Department Work Card (Sheriffs Card) for Child Care prior to hire
date and maintain through duration of employment * Must submit negative
TB results (One-Step Skin Test or Chest X-Ray ) prior to hire date and
every two years for the duration of employment * Must have a physical
